Each church can have up to five editors. Editors can edit their church's site within AChurchNearYou.com and access the Resource Hub. Each person should register for their own individual account, from which they can then request to become an editor for any number of churches. An existing editor for the church needs to approve each editor access request. When you become an approved editor for a church, you automatically also get access to edit the corresponding benefice site. Or to say it another way, if you want to become an editor of a benefice site, you need to follow the steps to become an editor of a church in the benefice. HOW TO BECOME AN EDITOR STEP ONE: REGISTER * Go to https://www.achurchnearyou.com/accounts/signup/ to fill out the registration form, then click Register * You will then be prompted to log in and once you have logged in you will automatically arrive at the 'Churches and Benefices' page (on mobile and tablet this page is also known as 'MyACNY'). STEP TWO: REQUEST TO EDIT A CHURCH * From the homepage, or the 'Churches and Benefices' page, search for the church’s location in the Postcode or place box. * Click on the name of the church you want. * Click Edit this church in the church menu. * Fill in the form to say who you are and why you would like access. * Click the Request access button. STEP THREE: AN EXISTING EDITOR APPROVES YOUR REQUEST When you request to edit a church, an email is sent to the church’s existing editor(s). The email tells them to approve your request and assign you an editor role. We’ll email you to tell you when you have been approved. Then, when you log in, the church will be listed under Churches and Benefices in the top menu when logged into your account. TROUBLESHOOTING NO EXISTING EDITORS If you request to become an editor of a church that has no existing editors, we get an automatic email to tell us to reach out to you to arrange manual approval, so don’t worry, we’ll be in touch shortly. If you want, you can also contact us. EXISTING EDITORS AWAY If there are any existing editors for your church, but they have moved away, are on holiday or are sick, there may be a delay in them approving you. So, to help limit any delays, the editor help centre gets notified if anyone has been waiting more than 10 calendar days. At this stage we will reach out directly to arrange manual approval. If you want, you can also contact us. NOTIFICATION NOT RECEIVED BY THE EDITORS If an existing editor has not got an email about your request to edit the church, they should still be able to log in and approve you, provided they are standard editors (not Publishers or Champions), following these instructions. EDITOR UNABLE TO APPROVE YOUR REQUEST If an editor is unable to work out how to approve you after they have read the instructions just tell them to contact the editor help centre saying they’re happy for you to have access, and we’ll sort the rest.
