SAMSUNG CREATE NATIONAL IDEA CONTEST
Samsung Create is a Samsung Electronics Philippines’ tech education initiative.
This national research-based idea contest encourages innovative applications of
the latest global tech trends to elevate the lives of Filipinos. For its
inaugural edition, the theme for Samsung Create is “Ideate to elevate: Unfold
the future of the Filipinos using the latest global tech trends: Artificial
Intelligence, Immersive/Metaverse, Robotics, and Network/Connectivity.”
GENERAL MECHANICS
1. The idea contest event will run for 27 weeks from January 23 – July 27, 2023
2. This idea contest is open for all participants with age 18 years to 30 years.
Currently residing in the Philippines. Employees of Samsung Electronics
Philippines Corporation and its advertising agency partners are not eligible to
join the contest as well as their relatives up to 2nd party of consanguinity or
affinity.

• Graduate students
• Young professionals
3. Participants must form a team maximum of five (5) members.
4. Participants can only be part of one (1) team.
5. All member should read, understand, and agree to the Samsung terms and
conditions during account creation on the Samsung Create website.
6. All team should follow the provided idea presentation template and should use
the appendix section for any additional information to further support their
ideas.
IDEA REGISTRATION
1. To qualify for the contest, the team representative must go to
https://create.samsungph.net/register to register and create their account. The
team representative is required to fill up the following details:
a. Email Address
b. Password
c. Full Name
d. Contact Number
e. Address
f. Affiliation (school, company, or none)
g. School or Company Name (if affiliated)
h. Team Information (Team Name)
i. Team Avatar (JPG, JPEG, or PNG file formats)
2. The team representative then sends the team invitation link to the team
members.
3. The team members are required to fill up the registration form with the same
details as stated above for the team representative.
4. Participants can only have one (1) Samsung Create account.
5. Teams can only have one (1) idea submission entry for the contest and must
only be submitted via the Samsung Create website.
a. The idea submission entry should be in PDF, PPT, or PPTX format (up to 50MB).
b. Idea submissions can be updated repeatedly until the deadline on March 25,
2023 at 11:59 PM.
c. Updating the idea submission beyond this deadline will not be allowed by the
system.
6. Failure to submit an idea entry within the deadline disqualifies the team
from the contest.
7. By officially registering and uploading their entry on the Samsung Create
website, the participant also gives their consent that their idea submission can
be used for marketing purposes for this contest. This includes using the videos
of their entries for marketing materials for this promo.
8. Registration and screening schedule are as follows:
• Registration of Entries: January 23 to March 25, 2023 at 11:59 PM
• Screening Schedule: March 27 to 31, 2023
• Announcement of Top 10 short-listed entries: April 5, 2023
IDEA EVALUATION FOR QUALIFYING ROUND
1. After the idea registration closes, all ideas will be reviewed and evaluated
by Samsung Research Philippines using the Samsung Create website.
2. An admin from the Samsung Research Philippines will assign the ideas to be
reviewed and evaluated to the judges from the Samsung Research Philippines.
3. A summary report of the evaluation results will be submitted to the DTI
representative.
4. There will be a total of 10 short-listed ideas based on the criteria below.

This is how well the proposal is written (clear, minimal grammatical errors,
proper citation, and references). This also evaluates the appropriateness of the
data's visual representation and the overall flow of idea expression.

This rates how feasible the approach and methodology are. If academic works of
other relevant products on the market and mock-ups can be provided and supports
this method, a higher rating is possible.

INNOVATIVENESS
This rates how new the proposed idea is or how it provides an edge over the
existing solutions.

RELEVANCE TO THE TARGETED APPLICATION AREA
This evaluates the ideas based on the theme: "Ideate to elevate: Unfold the
future of the Filipinos using the latest global tech trends" with how strongly
their ideas impact the recommended areas of application: Health and wellness,
Agriculture, Education, Environment, Social, and Governance.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF SHORT-LISTED ENTRIES
1. Short-listed entries will be announced within Three (3) working days after
the idea screening via the Samsung Create website. Winners will also be notified
through electronic mail or a phone call from Samsung Corporation’s
representative.
2. Samsung reserves the right to verify the details submitted by the
participants through the Samsung Create website to ensure that all details are
correct, valid, and does not infringe any intellectual property.
3. Depending on the result of the verification, the participating teams may or
may not be disqualified from the contest.
4. Samsung Electronics Philippines will provide round-trip flight for the top 10
team members (maximum 5 members only) coming from outside the island of Luzon.
5. Board and lodging or hotel accommodation will not be provided by Samsung
Electronics Philippines and must be shouldered by the participating teams.
6. Non-attendance during the final presentation and judging event disqualifies
the team from the contest.
IDEA MENTORSHIP
1. Teams with qualifying ideas will be assigned with one mentor from Samsung
Research Philippines via the Samsung Create website.
2. Idea mentorship will start from April 5 to May 31, 2023.
3. During these months, the team may communicate with their mentors using the
Samsung Create website for idea improvement, proof-of-concept or mock-up
creation, and presentation.
FINAL IDEA PRESENTATION AND JUDGING
1. Final idea presentation and judging will happen on July 27, 2023 at the Grand
Hyatt Manila in Fort Bonifacio Global City, Taguig from 9 AM to 2 PM.
2. Each team will be given five (5 to 10) minutes to present their ideas in
front of the board of judges from the following sectors:
a. Philippine Government
b. Samsung Research Philippines
c. Samsung Electronics Philippines
3. The board of judges may give their immediate feedback to the presenting team.
4. The board of judges will rate the teams on the Samsung Create website based
on the following criteria:

market differentiator for existing products. This also evaluates the social
adoption of the presented idea.

1. Winners will be announced and prizes will be given right after the final
presentation and judging.
