The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) in November 2023, published a
Guidance Notice concerning annual Data Protection Compliance Audit Returns.

The filing of Annual Data Protection Compliance Audit Returns is an obligation
for data controllers and processors under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation
2019, and the enactment of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 brought about
some uncertainties regarding this obligation.

To set the records straight, sequel to the enactment of the Nigeria Data
Protection Act 2023, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission therefore issued the
Guidance Notice, and in this Newsletter, we have summarized the key points
contained in the Notice.
