Greetings to all! This is John from the Lonely Mountain Band (LMB).
Before we embark on this quest together, let me tell you a tale of how it all
began.

***If you wish to skip the long-winded 'back-story' to the journey - simply
scroll down to the perks and goals...***

I have been writing, recording and performing as a musician since the early
1990s. Yet, like many of you, the story of music inspiring my imagination and
emotions reaches further back into the twilight edges of childhood memory.
There is a misty image in my mind of sitting in a darkened theater in the late
1970’s and hearing “Binary Sunset” by John Williams for the first time. I
didn’t understand the feeling at that age, but I know now that the soaring
melody which was rising as Luke stared out across the desert wastes of Tatooine
was like a summoning call for adventure in my young mind. That tune somehow
perfectly captures the restless heart of youth on the edge of some epic journey.
I remember the hairs standing up on the back of my neck when I heard “Atlantean
Sword”, and the goosebumps when the victorious climax of “The Wheel of Pain”
echoed in my spirit through the Hyborian talents of Basil Poledouris. “Misty
Mountains Cold” by Maury Laws was also forever etched into my mind during this
time. And then later, somewhere out of a memory of lighted streets on quiet
nights, in a car, hearing “The Crystal Ship”, bringing with it a whole fleet of
fantastic and poetic rockers. The ship never returned to shore; and sailed on
through Dire Straits, Asia, and took to the air on a Led Zeppelin. There was a
long mooring near the woods and farmlands of Jethro Tull, and in those woods I
heard a rumor of something called “Celtic.” The musical influences sailed all
the way from the classical first age to the iron crown of heavy metal.
Then one day, I found myself wandering through the streets of Verona, Italy
in 1996 and as I strolled past Castelvecchio - there was a sign outside
announcing that they would be showing the movie “Braveheart” projected on the
castle walls in the courtyard that night. And so by a chance-meeting I watched
William Wallace beamed onto the walls of those ancient walls the very night
before I was to set out for two weeks in Scotland. I heard outlawed tunes played
on outlawed pipes. In a few days we found ourselves well on the way to putting
over 1000 miles on our purple rental car all through Scotland, and while at a
B&B in the Highlands, a very welcoming elderly lady introduced us to The Gael -
Dougie MacLean. We then found ourselves at “Highland Mystery World” where I was
drawn to purchase a cassette tape by a band called “Wolfstone.” That was the
soundtrack for many-a-mile through the Highlands and I had now drawn “Celtic
Rock” from the magic bag called Celtic, out of which nearly anything may be
come. I found that anything is possible in the fabulous celtic twilight. And
so I spent the years between 2000-2017 writing, recording and performing in my
own Celtic Rock bands “Fathom” & “King Keltic.” This time spent in the Celtic
(other)world would later greatly inspire the composition and instrumentation of
LMB. But through all of this there was always Tolkien & fantasy literature,
which began to occupy a growing territory in my musical inspiration. Ever since
I heard the voice of Orson Welles calling to me from Middle-earth through the TV
set in the commercial for Bakshi’s Lord of the Rings animated adaptation, I have
been drawn ever deeper into the legendarium. (Hats off to an oft criticized
adaptation which led me to the books! ;) ) By 2009 I had realized that I should
devote an entire musical project to my Tolkien & fantasy influences; and so the
Lonely Mountain band was born. The band was named in honor of my LOTRO (Lord
of the Rings Online) Kinship, which I had founded in 2008. Three albums:
“Beyond the Western Seas”, “Second Breakfast”, and “Songs of the Dwarves” were
all released by 2012. The primary world. with its usual obligations,
interrupted that rapid flow of albums - and there has been a long hiatus of 10
years! But in 2020 - the songs began to echo loudly again from over the water.

And now in 2022 the new Lonely Mountain Band album is ready to be released!

The 4th album: “The Bard of Lost Tales”

There is much, much more to that tale, but lest I write a book in this space, I
should return to the campaign at hand:

* The campaign is simple: Join the adventure by tossing copper into the
minstrel’s lute case, or pre-ordering the new album, or even dedicating funds
at higher levels for greater experience and rewards! Another massive way to
support the quest is to share this campaign and the music of LMB with others.
You could even make your own testimonial videos or social media posts about
your favorite LMB song or other ways you have interacted with LMB! Any
amount, or sharing our story, will help us release the new album, pay off
“mountaining” costs of production, and hopefully secure funds for future
musical projects at greater and more epic production levels! But not only
could you help assure the success of the quest, you get to share in the glory
of this adventure and reap the rewards of our unique LMB perks and the
amazing treasure from our campaign sponsors! As the campaign grows we may
even be able to add more perks and even increase production quality and
content of this current release! So please check back often and share the
updates with others!
* I Need A Fellowship of Brave Adventurers. The LMB musical project has only
continued up to this point because of you - fantasy & music lovers. We have
received amazing emails and messages from our friends across the world
telling us how much a certain song or album means to them. Tales of a mom
playing one of the songs to her newborn baby at bedtime, friends sitting
around playing D&D with LMB music in the background, an RPG developer who
created a new game with LMB music as the soundtrack to his imagination,
bladesmiths who forged an epic edge to the ringing hammers of “Songs of the
Dwarves”... on and on the stories go! And we are so grateful for these
messages - it is really the fuel in our song-forge! Please continue to send

help us continue the adventure by supporting this campaign in any way that
you can. We have never run a crowdfunding campaign before - all previous
albums were self-funded, and we have tried to avoid asking for help before -
in fact, to this day, you can still goto MinstrelSongs.com and stream all of
the songs for FREE! We want to keep it that way, and make sure these tales
inspire as many adventurers as possible! But at some point all adventurers
need a fellowship to help us through perilous lands - now is the time - you
can help Lonely Mountain Band live on in the great songs and tales. Perhaps
folks will sing songs and tales about us? They may say, “Yes, let’s hear the
story again about the campaign of the Lonely Mountain Band and their Brave
Fellowship!”

We are aiming for an initial goal of $2000 - to help pay off some production and
physical duplication costs that we have incurred. These are common adventuring
supplies for bards; like cover art, CD liner notes & design, audio production
software etc… If we do well, we may even splurge on Iron Rations and Rope, Silk
(50ft.) But in all seriousness - this is a great way to pre-order the new
album, help us pay off production costs - and if it grows we can add perks and
new bundles like album re-masters & maybe more! We could even dream big and
possibly fund a 5th new album in rapid succession?!

* We have awesome perks! The initial levels are various incarnations & bundles

The Ring-Giver of Song - by a great deed, bestows splendid gifts!
Bēah-gifa, they will indeed sing songs about your feats of generosity! LMB
will write and or record a song just for you! Perhaps you already have lyrics
or a story/concept in mind? Perhaps you wish there was a song or story from
Tolkien’s world or other fantasy story that you would like to hear. Propose to
your elf-maiden through song! It could be instrumental or include lyrics. Maybe
you need a theme song for your organization, movie or video game? It's up to
you! The song would be in the style of previous LMB music, but at the creative
direction of the patron ring-giver. This song will be personally recorded for
you and you will receive executive producer credits. It is not uncommon for a
composer or band to charge about $1000 per minute of music for custom
composition and recording, your song could be up to 7 minutes for the price
listed above. Perhaps you want two shorter songs totalling 7 minutes - the
price is the same. Songwriting, recording and production is a very
time-consuming and laborious process - so while this perk is at the highest
level of the contribution levels, it is really a special opportunity for those
seeking custom music in a fantasy, celtic, celtic-rock, folk or
folk-rock style! Those genres are the specialty of LMB. Delivery time and
further details of the song & copyrights would be discussed later between patron
& bard. Feel free to ask further questions via email if considering this level.

THE QUEST STANDS UPON THE EDGE OF KNIFE (ok more like a butter-knife) -
- BUT WHAT IF WE FAIL?!
* If we fail to reach our initial goal of $2000: Do Not Fear - the perks
claimed by supporters will still be distributed to those who joined the
adventure and any remaining funds will still help to pay off production costs
for the Lonely Mountain Band’s new album. The new album will be released
regardless of the outcome of the campaign.
No matter the outcome of our quest: your efforts will live on in song!

The Impact

* Even the smallest contribution can change the course of the campaign!
It is no secret lore kept in a hidden tome in some subterranean vaults of
Stygia that the music industry is not what it was in its elder days. Record
deals and artist development for unique and adventurous musicians have become
rarer than mithril silver. It is now up to the artist and their kind patrons
to join the quest together in fellowship to bring lost songs and musical
styles to new realms. But as a wise loremaster once said, “Such is oft the
course of deeds that move the wheels of the world: small hands do them
because they must, while the eyes of the great are elsewhere.” And it is
your hands, be they great or small, that can help carry the load of new (and
old) LMB songs to a wider audience. The quest now largely lies in your
hands to push us on to undiscovered territories of the map. Your name can be
etched side by side with others of the brave fellowship who carried us
along.
If you are familiar with the music of the Lonely Mountain Band, you already
know the qualities and styles of the three previous albums: “Beyond The
Western Seas,” “Second Breakfast,” and “Songs of the Dwarves.” We are
excited and inspired to bring you the same and yet greater quality of
“Folk-fantasy” music now and into the future!

The new album, “The Bard of Lost Tales” is completed and ready to take its place
in the collection of albums that you, our friends and fans, have already helped
us deliver.

* Risks & Challenges In The Adventure
“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the
road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be
swept off to.” - J.R.R. Tolkien
All adventures have some risk - perhaps we won’t meet our goal? Perhaps some
world shaking calamity (which we have all too often seen in recent
years) will divert eyes from the campaign. Perhaps some unforeseen pitfall
will swallow the campaign whole - or we stumble headlong into a sleeping
dragon? We cannot see all ends, but with a brave fellowship to help us along
we will be content to know that we tried. After all, the songs will still be
there to sing!
The greatest challenge: would simply seem to be that if not enough people
share the campaign, we might not meet our goal. But we won’t let you do all
the work. The Lonely Mountain Band has already finished the album and we
will do all we can to carry on until the campaign reaches hearth and home.
We will update the campaign often, hopefully able to even add new perks and
stretch goals. And we already have some legendary heroes who are sponsoring
the quest with unique and precious perks we are sure you all will treasure.
* Courage Is Found in Unlikely Places: Other Ways You Can Help!
Some folks just can't contribute coin, and in this day and age, that is very
understandable. Yet, that doesn't mean you can't help. In fact some of the
greatest heroes proved their valor simply by how loud they sounded the call
to adventure: We humbly request that you sound your social media horns as
loudly as possible in sharing this campaign link and links to Lonely Mountain
Band videos and websites. This aspect of the quest can be just as important,
if not more important than contributing funds. And if you do contribute,
please also share the link and inspire others to glorious deeds! We welcome
our friends to make videos on social media using the music of Lonely Mountain
Band (available on FB, Instagram, TikTok etc... just search Lonely Mountain
Band when adding music to a video) - or share your story about a favorite
song or how you found out about the music. Perhaps we will even share your
video on our pages as well!
