While there is an undeniable downward trend to the number of job postings listed on the top job sites, we are seeing a higher-than-expected number of Customer Success job postings being added. So whether you’re trying to recover from a lost position or looking to advance your career, there are still jobs to be had, with over ten thousand job postings this month alone. These are well-paying, full-time positions, with an average salary of $65,000 and $11,000 in additional compensation. THE CUSTOMER SUCCESS JOB MARKET To help you get a sense for where to start your search and what to expect, we put together a quick informational primer on what’s happening in the Customer Success job market right now. What follows are a series of charts showing where these jobs are, who is hiring, and what sorts of industries are bringing on the most new CSMs. This information is sourced from LinkedIn, Glassdoor and Indeed and represents all the postings for Customer Success Manager (and related) roles worldwide. Worldwide Customer Success Manager Job Postings As you can see above, the rate of growth in the total number of Customer Success Manager job postings was fairly consistent, through January with a spike in February. Some of the peak in February may be statistical noise or the inclusion of more related roles as we saw an unexpected surge in job postings on the Glassdoor job site (11,740 vs. their monthly average of 4970 over the same period). Though the trend in total numbers is definitely on a downward trajectory, the number of new job postings being added daily on the major job sites indicates that companies are still hiring, and in larger-than-expected numbers given the current downturn in the employment market. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOOKING FOR ACTIVE JOB OPPORTUNITIES? See the Active Job Listings -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TOP INDUSTRIES Unsurprisingly, the largest employers for Customer Success positions tend to be in software, IT, and internet services, driven by Silicon Valley and large tech firms like Salesforce or AWS. There are also a substantial number of Customer Success jobs in marketing, financial services, real estate, and staffing. Top Locations Consistently the most common locations for Customer Success jobs are in the tech hubs of San Francisco/Silicon Valley and New York, as well as Atlanta and Austin. Increasingly though, and especially with the changes required by the outbreak of COVID-19, there are remote options for many of these positions. TOP EMPLOYERS The top employers for Customer Success positions varies from month to month, but often includes big players like Microsoft, Apple, Salesforce, and Workday, Amazon Web Services, Splunk, VMWare, Cybercoders, and others. CONCLUSION Despite the unprecedented economic conditions, the hiring for Customer Success Managers appears to be stronger than expected.
