The umbrella for which I purchased the weighted stand for is off set, so the balance of the stand is very necessary. The problem lies with the pole not having the structure to extend the umbrella to the height needed for normal usage. I had even tied a heavier poly rope from the deck to the pole and back to the deck for added support. This helped, but the pole needs to recede further in the base to come close to working properly.
