Petra was born May 13, 1925 in Weslaco, Texas to Monico and Maria Reyna. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joaquin Y. Hernandez; son, Joaquin Hernandez, Jr., parents, one sister, and one brother. She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Maricela H. Sanchez; sons: Raul S. Hernandez (Rosalinda), Roland Hernandez, Roel Hernandez, Heriberto Hernandez, Rene Hernandez (Gloria), and Reynaldo Hernandez (Dalia); 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers: Alejandro Garcia, Rogelio Reyna, Jason Hernandez, Jeremy Hernandez, Jacob Hernandez and Joaquin Hernandez, III. The family will receive friends from 4-8PM on Thursday, September 3, 2009 with a Rosary to be recited at 7PM. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Friday, September 4, 2009. Both services will be held at Brookside Funeral Home. Interment will in Brookside Memorial Park. The family would like to acknowledge and extend a sincere thanks to Paula Ramones for her loyalty, dedication and friendship as caregiver to Petra for many years.
