REIMAGINE THE FUTURE.

THEN TRANSFORM IT.

All significant leaps forward begin with a spark – the breakthrough idea that
can change everything.

Inspiring great minds to bring a germ of an idea into being, is the process of
innovation. This new strategic plan developed by the great minds at York House
School is the result of just such a process.

OUR OBJECTIVE: TO CREATE FUTURE-READY STUDENTS

Academic Excellence and Creativity

Self-Awareness and Self-Care

Confidence and Resilience

Empowered Voices and Kindness and Empathy

Diverse Perspectives and Comfort Among Differences

Connection with the Real World

Ability to Navigate Uncertainty

Fulfillment and Joy from Learning

What began as a spark, ignited the imagination of a community to develop a bold,
new vision.

While the future might not be knowable, the tools needed by today’s young women
to flourish in a world defined by change, call for a reinvention of education.

York House School has forged a pathway to the next epoch. There is much we can’t
predict about the world they’ll enter, but we do know that for them to be
equipped for whatever comes, we must define the meaning of ‘future-ready.’

50% of all employees will need reskilling by 2025, as adoption of technology
increases.

Critical thinking and problem-solving top the list of skills employers believe
will grow in prominence in the next five years.

Newly emerging this year are skills in self-management such as active learning,
resilience, stress tolerance and flexibility.

Respondents to the Future of Jobs Survey estimate that around 40% of workers
will require reskilling of six months or less.

IMAGINE A FUTURE THAT DOESN’T EXIST. YET.

The York House School community challenged each other to think more deeply,
imagine more expansively, ponder the possible, and identify the necessary.
Through a process of collaboration, critical thinking and creativity, we
developed a roadmap to the future that will ensure our students continue to
thrive, not only in their professional pursuits, but in their lives. Spark is
that plan.

The strength of York House is the community we’ve built and cherished for 92
years. This feisty school has been the educational home for exceptional young
women who have gone on to extraordinary success and who have made significant
contributions to the betterment of our society. Above all, they are happy human
beings who maintain close ties with their school and each other.

We’ve relied on that brilliance from alum to current students, parents past and
present, faculty, staff and leadership, and a committed Board of Governors who
have guided this process from start to finish. That is why we are so confident
in the direction and substance of Spark.

“York House has transformed me. I’m inspired by the talent, challenged by the
program, and embraced by the warmth of this community. I’m excited that YHS is
planning for a stronger future and thinking about students’ needs as they
evolve. Everything is changing all the time and it’s important that our school
continues to grow.”
