Relaxed because of peaceful, country living, and HAPPY the Harford County Council met on Tuesday, October 17, voted on the zoning issues, and decided D-015 will continue as AG- zoned property! Thank you to all who engaged in the process, contacted local officials, and attended public meetings. Thank you to our elected officials and those serving in various capacities of county government who listened to concerned citizens and considered what is best for the Madonna community. A huge thank you to the core group of concerned folks who spearheaded Keep Madonna Rural. Without you to initiate the creation of the KMR website and your tireless efforts to educate and inform the community of proposed changes, the outcome of this evening's vote might have been different. This issue certainly brought our community together, enabling new friendships and neighbors helping neighbors. This page will continue as a place to share updates on events and issues within the Madonna area. Stay tuned! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This website has been formed by concerned community members of the Madonna area to make people aware of the APPLICATION FOR ZONING CHANGE from Agricultural (AG) to Business (B3) zoning in our neighborhood. This change will irreparably alter the rural atmosphere of our area. HOW YOU CAN HELP: GET INFORMED * CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR EMAIL UPDATES * Click here for specific, simple things you can do now * Click here for the zoning map and zoning details. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D-015 REZONING UPDATE The recommendations of the Planning and Zoning Department along with the Planning Advisory Board at the August 9 meeting for #D-015 was NO CHANGE for the request from AG to B3. All recommendations can be reviewed at the following link http://www.harfordcountymd.gov/DocumentCenter/Home/View/9484 THIS IS OVER FOR NOW (BUT STAY VIGILANT!) The above recommendations along with the County Executive recommendations will be sent to the County Council. The County Council has 60 days to act on the Comprehensive Zoning Review by holding public hearings. Those public hearings are scheduled for Monday, October 2 at Aberdeen High School and Thursday, October 5 at BelAir High School both at 6:30 PM. The next step in this process is a County Council meeting where the bill will pass, fail or be amended. Keep Madonna Rural will post all opportunities for the concerned citizens of Madonna and surrounding areas to be aware of the plans for communicating our concerns to the County Council. We will be updating the webpage, Facebook page and KMR email to all members with plans on how to proceed at the public hearings.
