of your career. With the employment landscape continuing to change its easy to
believe our careers are out of our hands, this thinking leaves people unemployed

Simply put, if you're looking for a roadmap to gain some steam in your current
role or are looking to really step it up for your next career move this is the
book you need! I found myself excited for the next chapter to apply the
principles to reach a better outcome for myself and my career.
Andy has a knack for clear and concise writing. It feels as though he's right
there with you encouraging you on your career journey and helping you take the
next step.
I'm happy to report shortly after the completion of this book I landed a new
role that I am more than excited about! You can call it luck, but I call it
owning my career and life. Thanks, Andy!

Anyone who believes in "taking full responsibility and being intentional with
your actions" and "having an idea of where you want to go, making a plan, and
then taking steps to get there" needs to read this book. I was so inspired after
reading this book, I immediately took major steps to redefine my vision,
purpose, and goals and develop a plan of action. One plan is to keep this book
nearby and continuously refer back to it as I navigate the next steps to "owning
my career". I am an avid reader, and this book did an excellent job summarizing
my favorite business books such as Never Eat Alone while introducing me to a
series of new books starting with The Miracle Morning. I have read articles
about the importance of having an established daily routine before, but Andy
Storch inspired me to start this new habit right away by sharing his Morning
Routine and highlighting the importance of starting every day with a purpose.
The examples and exercises in this book regarding building your network,
building your personal brand, and prioritizing activities to achieve your goals
are actionable and meaningful. These exercises taught me to focus my energy on
those things I can control so that I can keep moving forward and upward with
purpose. No matter what stage you are in your career, "The Time is Now to Own
Your Career" and this book is the reference manual to help you do it!

I have read this entire book. No skimming here! Andy Storch provides some great
advice along side the story of his own career journey. His career hasn't been an
easy and direct route to success. He shares his insights about self-awareness
and personal accountability, to name a few. This is a good book for anyone new
in their career, starting out in the workforce, in the midst of job transitions,
adjusting course after a rough pandemic year, and anyone else ready to take the
first step to a better future.
You will find a summary after each chapter with a quick reference about the Old
Habit to toss and the New Habit to practice. Andy includes numerous book
recommendations throughout the book. So before you go out and buy a bunch of
self-help books, you might consider getting this one first to help orient you. I
love that Andy gives an overview of several important professional development
concepts like SMART goals and growth mindset.
You will find a hidden gem deep in the book - scarcity versus abundance. I've
watched his videos and followed him on LinkedIn for the last year. Andy
epitomizes this shift in thinking. He embraces the idea that we are not in
competition with each other. There is enough success (how ever you define it) to
go around.

I just finished reading the book, Own Your Career, Own Your Life, and I enjoyed

This book culminated in all the best books I have ever read on professional

life. This book will serve as my constant companion as I pivot in my career and
grow as a global citizen. I love that I can immediately improve my career and

If you are the type of person to read this book, it's likely that you've read
several other books on self-development, career planning and motivation. The
truth is that the concepts driving all of these books, as well as many in the
realm of management science, are easy to understand. You already know what
they're going to say. They are easy to grasp but difficult to apply. The great
benefit of Andy Storch's book is that it is strong on application. Storch uses
examples from his own career journey, from his own life, to underscore the
validity of these precepts. He hands you the formula for making it work and
getting it done. If you know Andy Storch from his podcasts, you will find the
tone and approach tot his work very authentic. Storch uses a conversational
style, drawing liberally on examples from his network of management and talent
development professionals across the globe. Storch has approached his message
with the reader solidly in mind: Rather than ask of himself "How do I tell
people what I know," he instead asks "How can I help this reader be successful."
That's the key to this book and why it is worth your time.

Andy has done a great job summarising the core principles of career success -
from networking, to owning your brand, building your skills and taking control.
And it's not just all about work. The final chapter talks about some of the
fundamental behaviours and practices that will allow success in all aspects of
your life.
Whilst some of the advice has been around a while (setting SMART goals /
building your network), Andy has brought them into 2020 by sharing modern
learning methods, networking opportunities and the career options available now.
These are the things that you often find out the importance of the hard way, by
NOT doing them. This book will help you shortcut many of those mistakes. Andy
generously shares many of his own mistakes from his career too.
Who's the book for: if you are new to the workforce and want to get ahead, or
you've been working for a while but are feeling stuck in your career, this book
will give you the boost or reset you need. If you are fully engaged, kicking
goals, being coached/mentored and fully taking control of your life and career,
you may not benefit as much from this book. Similarly, for anyone late in their
career, the content may be less relevant.
Side point: I particularly enjoyed the fact that Andy practices what he preaches
and wrote this book in 100 days by sitting down every day with the aim of
writing 500 words (he averaged 570). It goes to show that setting a goal and
taking control of your daily routine and habits to reach it, makes even
something as 'big' as writing a book, absolutely possible.

Over the past 10 years, I’ve spent a lot of time reading and thinking about my
personal development. I’ve come across lots of different ideas and view points
and picked out the things that resonated most with me.
When I read Own your career, it was like all those points had been collated in
to one book. There wasn’t anything in there that was groundbreaking or a new
concept but what the book did, was flow through a series of common sense ideas
that got you to think about what you want to get out of your career and your
life, and then had a plethora of practical tips about how to make it happen.
I lead a team of c.50 associates and this will be my number 1 recommendation
when they finish their accountancy exams and start thinking about what’s next.
A practical guide for anyone who is looking to find their purpose and a career
that allows them to deliver on it

I read this book at the recommendation of a friend and was very happy with it.
This book is a strong set of instructions, thoughts, and actionable steps to put
your life and your career on an upward path. By seeking the consistent habits,
growth mindsets, and taking the proactive steps that are outlined, you will gain
better understandings of how you work, relate to people more easily, and start
taking your career and life into your own hands.
The writing style was very easy to get drawn into and the flow of the book was
good too. My advice is to read with a journal next to you as you will have some
great thoughts on getting started immediately. Very good read, highly
recommended for those seeking something they can get started on the day they
start reading it!

My judgement for a good book is how much I write in it - underlining the key
points I remember, making notes in the margins and googling recommendations
etc.... So the fact that nearly every page in this book has something underlined
means I give this book 5+ stars...
Really easy to read, resourceful and packed full of practical action steps - a
must read and one which I’m already recommending to people and even mentioned
how good it was on a national podcast.
