How it works?

DefiEdge empowers permissionless and decentralized liquidity provisioning.
Anyone can set up a liquidity management contract using the factory contract for
our protocol. Liquidity providers can then deposit assets in these contracts to
earn returns as strategy managers optimize their positions. Rebalancing
positions on UniswapV3 through DefiEdge smart contracts will now happen in large
blocks, decreasing the number of actions from all users and reducing the
relative impact of gas fees. DeFiEdge contracts create a scalable layer over
UniswapV3 pools and enable collective management of multiple individual
positions.

WHAT IS DEFIEDGE?

DefiEdge is a permissionless and decentralized protocol that creates a scalable
layer over UniswapV3 pools. Liquidity providers, who are hesitant to provide
liquidity on UniswapV3 due to high gas costs and impermanent loss risks, can
deposit their assets in strategy pools on our protocol. Strategy managers will
actively manage assets provided by users helping them take advantage of
amplified yields in UniswapV3 without them having to spend too much time and
effort in continuously following market fluctuations.


THE NEED FOR DEFIEDGE

UniswapV3 revolutionized the idea of liquidity pools for token swaps. UniswapV3
follows the concept of a constant function market maker (CFMM) on very short
price intervals like UniswapV2. However, unlike V2, the liquidity providers can
concentrate their liquidity on specific price ranges. This infrastructure is a
quantum leap in automated market makers (AMMs) as it significantly improves
capital efficiency and price discovery at the same time.

While this new approach to liquidity provisioning improves capital efficiency
for LPs, it comes with its risks. In UniswapV2, LPs would suffer impermanent
loss if the price deviates significantly; this risk is amplified in UniswapV3.
If the trading price in the pool goes outside a position’s price range, their
entire capital will get converted to the cheaper asset, resulting in a
significant reserve loss.

To prevent heavy losses due to price fluctuations, liquidity providers need to
actively manage their positions on UniswapV3. They have to continuously keep
changing their positions while keeping in mind price volatility and price
momentum. Not only is this very difficult for someone who wants to passively
earn returns from their liquidity, but it is also getting increasingly expensive
with ever-rising gas costs.
