The development of Dougall GPT and Dougall MD was based on the premise that
clinicians will soon prefer the efficiency offered by AI assistants to the
time-wasting experience of using search engines with their preponderence of
commercially-biased and patient-oriented search results. It is the number one
priority of Dougall GPT to help clinicians save time when they quickly need a
piece of information, or need a comprehensive summary of information relating to
a topic. Amongst other day-to-day purposes they currently use Google to satisfy.

What can I use Dougall GPT for?

The Popular Prompts section of the Dougall GPT home page offers dozens of
examples of prompts used by clinicians like you for a variety of purposes
related to diagnosing, treating, informing and communicating, whether with
patients, colleagues or institutions. The Popular Prompts are continually
updated by the Dougall Medical team as you and clinicians like you find new uses
for Dougall GPT.

How accurate are Dougall GPT's responses?

There are several academic investigations under way to assess the accuracy of
LLMs in medicine. So the jury is still out. Anecdotally, however, some
researchers have expressed the opinion that answers generated by GPT-like bots
approach the level of accuracy one can expect from a highly knowledgable albeit
inexperienced medical student just before they graduate. The cautious clinician
will therefore want to verify important parts of answers before taking them into
consideration in their decision making.

How consistent are Dougall GPT answers?

Dougall GPT is always learning, like you. Prompts are like cases for AI models.
Whereas every new case advances the experience of clinicians, AI models learn
from every exchange with users. This is one reason why answers to the same
prompt might differ over time.

What are AI "hallucinations"?

You may have heard of AI "hallucinations". The best way to understand these is
to think of Dougall GPT as a medical student that passes exams consistently, but
where some of their answers are guesses based on what they think is likely to be
the right answer rather than based on hard knowledge. Sometimes parts of Dougall
GPT answers will therefore sound plausible but will in fact be factually
incorrect. Wrong guesses, in essence. Just like a very confident medical student
without the benefit of experience might chance. Experienced clinicians know

Can I trust Dougall GPT with sensitive medical information?

While Dougall GPT makes every effort to protect the privacy of its users and the
information they enter in prompts, it is very important for you to comply with
the privacy laws and regulations that govern the use and storage of health and
personal information where you practice. LLMs like Dougall GPT learn from every
interaction they have with users, which means that your prompts and the answers
generated by Dougall GPT, become part of the continuous learning process
inherent to LLMs. It is therefore advisable to keep personally identifiable
information (patient names, phone numbers or addresses, for example) out of

Can Dougall GPT understand multiple languages?

Dougall GPT can respond to prompts in many languages, with its answers then
expressed in the language of the prompt. It's important to note, however, that
Dougall MD Trusted Links only point to English sites and pages at the moment.
When a language other than English is used in a prompt, the Dougall MD Trusted
Links will point to English language sites and pages.

sourcing clinical information?
