Training your dog should be an enjoyable, rewarding process – for you and
your pet! Dog training is not something that comes naturally to every pet
owner, though. Never fear! A little advice can go a long way towards making
the training process fun and hassle-free. Read on to discover some handy
tricks to take the guesswork out of dog training.

“Everything I know I learned from dogs.” – Nora Roberts

Training your dog is one of the most beneficial things you can do for your
pet. Teach your dog one command at a time. Tell your dog to sit, and when
they do, give them a treat. Once they have mastered one command, you can move
on to the next. Training your dog will provide a more peaceful relationship
between you and your pet. Your dog will know that you are in command, and
listen to what you want them to do.

Learn to understand what your dog is saying through facial expression. Many
people fail to see that a dog says even though his he communicates
non-verbally with his face, just as we do. When you are training your dog,
take some time to see how he responds to commands, rewards and your behavior.
Watching his facial expressions will be useful as training progresses and
give you a better understanding of your dog.

Walking your dog means Dog Leads leading your dog. Your role in this
situation is to lead the pack, therefore your pet should be expected to walk
a half step behind. You will instill confidence in your pet when they know
you are leading the pack and making the decisions. They will be less likely
to attempt running or being distracted while you walk.

Dogs mimic their owner’s behavior. Don’t be shocked if they decide they want
to sleep in your bed and sit in your recliner. Don’t be shocked if they
attempt to eat from your plate. Most of all, don’t be angry. Your dog has to
be trained that this behavior is unacceptable. They need to be taught the
   acceptable options.

House training your puppy can be a lot faster and more effective using a
crate. The crate should never be used for punishment. The puppy should be put
in it at night and in between times of interaction with his owner. His
natural instinct is to not relieve himself in his sleeping area.

Throughout your dog’s training program, continue to play with them as much as
possible. Interacting through games and activities is one way to bond with
your pet and relieve stress. Dogs respond much better to people they trust,
so go out and throw a ball, play tug of war or just rub their belly.

As you plan out your dog training sessions, focus on only teaching your pet
one new skill at a time. Too many instructions and expectations can cause
your dog to become confused and frustrated. You will achieve much better
results if you work on one skill, achieve mastery and then move on.

It’s essential that you understand that you must be firm with your dog when
you are in training mode. You should not be yelling at your dog all the time.
Be strict only when your dog disobeys or adopts an attitude you do not
approve of. Maintaining a proper balance ensures that the relationship
between you and your dog is strong.

Pick the proper size crate for your dog if you want to be able to effectively
use the crate to train it. Puppies grow up quickly. You need a crate that can
still fit the puppy once it becomes a dog. The ideal size would be one that
doesn’t make your dog crowded when turning around or laying down.

Try to schedule each training session at roughly the same time each day. You
want your dog to get into a pattern where he know’s it’s coming and is
excited for it. If your dog is excited for it he’s much more likely to
succeed, just as if humans are excited for something they’re more likely to
   succeed.

When training a dog, it is important not to let the dog ignore a given
command. If the owner lets his or her pet disregard a command, the pet will
receive inappropriate reinforcement. The dog will start to believe that its
owner’s commands are optional. This works against the entire purpose of
   training a dog.

“Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen.”– Orhan Pamuk

Train a puppy to accept a leash by playing with the puppy while it wears its
Dog Collars . Having the puppy get comfortable wearing the collar is
important not only so that you can properly use a leash but also that your
puppy has the proper identification tags in case he or she takes off.

When bringing a new puppy home, plan to keep him on the leash and in your
sight for a few days. When you can’t be with him, have a safe place for him
to go. This will help you to find your pet’s trouble spots and teach him the
   house rules.

Have the right equipment and use it properly. Learn how to put on a chain or
nylon slip collar and use a standard 6 foot leash for most training. Do not
yank or pull on the leash. Just give a quick tug and release when the dog
ignores a command to come or heel. Soon just wearing the Leather dog
collars will be enough to remind the dog that you are the one in charge of
the training session, and very few corrections should be needed.

In many cases, a dog’s diet can be contributing to the behavior and health
problems that he is having. Be sure that you are feeding your dog a balanced
diet and he is going to thank you by adapting his behavior to be accepted,
more important than that, he will be healthier for many more years.

When deciding to train your dog, make sure that you have patience towards
your pet. All dogs are unique and learn at different paces. To be effective
in training your pooch, make sure you have the patience to see it through.
Treat your dog with kindness even if he or she may try your patience.

Leaders should always go first, and you should teach that to your dog. If you
walk through doors and your dog rushes past you through the opening, it means
you do not have control and your dog believes he is leader. Blocking the door
so he can’t get through first, or teaching him to sit or stay while you walk
ahead, helps him understand he needs to stop and follow your lead.

Underestimating the necessity of good exercise will cramp your dogs training
style. Naturally, all dogs need to run, chase and play just to release energy
so if they do not get enough exercise outside of training they are very
likely to be distracted or over excited and cause the session to be
   frustrating for everyone.

Make sure you listen to your dog. What is he telling you? Your dog’s behavior
will often give you a window into his mind. Destructive dogs are often bored
or anxious. Anxious dogs may act inconsistently with strangers. No matter the
trouble, your dog is telling you how he feels when he behaves in situations.

When training a dog, rewards are much more effective than punishment. Use low
calorie treats or pieces of boiled chicken to reward good behavior. Once the
dog has learned the behavior you’re trying to encourage, you only need to
reward with treats occasionally. Always reward with praise and affection!

Do not lean over your dog, no matter whether he is big or small. Dogs are
intimidated by space-hogging body posture. Even your subtle movements are
read by your dog, so a simple lean will suffice if you are attempting to
block or redirect his path. Hovering straight over a dog may make them
   reactive as well.

Have the right equipment and use it properly. Learn how to put on a chain or
nylon slip collar and use a standard 6 foot leash for most training. Do not
yank or pull on the leash. Just give a quick tug and release when the dog
ignores a command to come or heel. Soon just wearing the collar will be
enough to remind the dog that you are the one in charge of the training
session, and very few corrections should be needed.

A well-trained dog is a joy to own and a lifelong companion. Every thoughtful
dog owner understands that the responsibility of training their dog carries a
lot of potential benefits. There is no reason not to seek out assistance in
order to get the most out of training your dog. Putting together an
effective, fun training program will make you and your pet that much happier
   with each other.
