Interesting facts about investments



The first mention of investing was discovered several hundred years before the
birth of Christ. It is known that even in ancient Babylon, the competent
management of money was taught as an important science. As you understand, for
all this time a lot of entertaining facts about investments have accumulated,
and you will now learn about the most interesting of them.

1. Did you know that the word "investment" itself comes from the Latin language?
And initially it was translated as "I wear something"..

2. Over time, the word "investment" has acquired a new meaning. Now this concept
means the process of investing capital in order to make a profit in the future,
and the person who invests this money is called an investor. It is curious that

"investment" acquired a completely new meaning. And one of the first and most
outstanding investors can be considered the Scottish financier John Law
(1671-1729). It was this man who was one of the first to achieve significant
financial success by investing his funds in bank deposits and shares of various
trading companies.

4. Interesting facts about investments can be found in Russian history. So, it
was in Tsarist Russia that such an investment tool as investing in real estate
first appeared. At that time, apartment buildings began to be actively built,
the rooms of which were rented out. This method of investing their funds was the
most profitable from the point of view of obtaining passive income.

5. In the future, they learned to get even more profit from such apartment
buildings. So, on the lower floors lived representatives of the intelligentsia,
on the upper floors there were various hired workers and artisans, and the poor
huddled in the attics. Thus, housing was available for rent to all classes of
society at once, which made it possible to receive significant incomes.

famous Dutch tulips. When these flowers first began to be exported outside the

forced to seek financial help from the famous writer Mark Twain – the inventor
needed funds to develop his ideas. But Twain refused the scientist help, which
in the future could return to him in many millions of dollars.

8. It is hardly surprising that the most famous investment item in human history
is gold. It is this precious metal that has always grown in price for many
centuries. So, the heaviest coin made of gold was cast in Canada. Its weight is
100 kg, the diameter exceeds 0.5 meters, and the cost is $ 1,000,000. And the
largest gold bar weighing 250 kg costs about 3.5-4 million dollars.

9. A lot of interesting things can tell and facts about investments from the
modern world. So, in 2008, Moscow became the most attractive city in europe for
investing in real estate, sharply rising from the 17th position to the very
first place in the rating of investment prospects of world cities (according to
PricewaterhouseCoopers).

10. Do you think that only a few can become rich? And what about the example of
the Swedish homeless Man Kurt Degerman, who all his life collected and
constantly handed over tin cans, and regularly invested the proceeds for 30
years in the shares of successful Swedish companies? What do you think? By the
end of his life, the enterprising Swede had amassed $1.5 million and 124 gold
bars that were stored in his safe deposit box!
