ME IN A NUTSHELL

I’m a Brazilian living in London since early 2020. I have moved countries
because of work, but this move turned out to be a great personal experience –
after all, we all know what happened in 2020.

Sustainability is one of my main passions, as is all that comes with it
(including endless questioning of life, habits and beliefs that I was brought up
with). I enjoy trying to fix before buying anew, and can frequently be found
considering ways of generating a smaller footprint.

I’m also into arts and crafts, going for hikes, socialising and having deep
philosophical conversations.

Yes, I do love coding, but from 9 to 5 (preferably for 4 days a week only).
Although I am a software engineer in occupation, I refuse to use that title to
describe myself as a person, and I believe this reveals a lot about myself as a
professional.

I will strive for a good work-life balance, both for me and for any team I am
part of. That involves negotiating and setting expectations with whoever is on
the business side of a software project: clients – external or internal, product
owners, project managers. That also involves working hard on developer
experience and on the team’s productivity, providing testing and delivery
infrastructure, working on code quality and good architecture and design.
Finally, users must be happy, so their app must be monitored and they must be
understood. Count on me for putting my best effort into that: I believe in
coding for people, not only for the machines.

In the end, the pandemic wasn’t all bad. It’s helped me set some priorities
straight. We could barely separate personal and professional contexts, and
that’s why I believe in being tested and hired for what I bring to the table as
Larissa, not just as “an engineer”.
