The logistics of getting to the Pyrenees from my usual haunts in the the UK are awkward, so the plans were put on the back- burner. Last year (2023) my partner unexpectedly expressed enthusiasm (they're usually a grudging hiker and camper) so we did visit the neighbourhood only it was too short notice to arrange campsites (which is important, as wild camping has been made illegal in most of the park from 2022) and we did a loop near Vignemale instead (which I might write about another time). This year though, we were better prepared and had a better idea of our weaknesses (we're very slow walkers, as it turns out) and the gear we'd need.
