SUSTAINABLE IN WHAT WE DO

In its long history, 2023 has been, without a doubt, one of the more challenging
years NewRe encountered. An adequate way to describe the year for the company is
that it was profoundly ambivalent. On the one hand, we could further grow our
businesses significantly to gross written premiums of EUR 6.3 bn while on the
other hand, our results have been affected by some significant incidences that
caused an annual loss to be reported.  However, we strongly believe in our
well-diversified approach and sustainable strategy and can confirm that this the
route we will take in the foreseeable future.

NEW APPOINTMENT


CLAUDIA STRAMETZ TO BECOME PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD

New Reinsurance Company Ltd. is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr.
Claudia Strametz to its Board of Directors. Claudia Strametz was voted onto the
NewRe Board as President effective 30 September 2024. Speaking on behalf of
NewRe, Thomas Braune, CEO, said: “Today we are excited to welcome Claudia
Strametz. Her international and deep industry expertise make her an excellent
addition to our Board of Directors. We are confident that her contributions will
be instrumental to our future success.” Claudia Strametz replaces Claudia Hasse,
who stepped down from the function after 6 years on the Board of Directors.

FACTS & FIGURES


2023 RESULTS

NewRe’s gross premiums increased favourably from EUR 4.8 bn in 2022 to EUR 6.3
bn in 2023. But, at EUR -185 m, NewRe’s overall 2023 result stands in stark
contrast to the previous year’s figure of EUR 170 m. In spite of the loss, we
are pleased to report that the company maintains its financial strength and good
capitalisation, expressed by our AA rating (S&P) as well as the very solid SST
ratio of 233%.
