On Aesthetic Selfcare

An exploration of self-care through clothing. How can vestimentary proposals
influence, sensitize, and stimulate the sense of wellbeing, or—more
generally—the body-feeling of the wearer?

On Anthropomorphic things

Design proposals and experiments which explicitly integrate bodily forms or
elements and human features. The fusing of body and object. Things take on form.

On Movement

Movement as the central element in dealing with the body. From bodily experience
as a design method, movement studies as triggers, to specific performative
moments in the representation of designs.

On Norm Not Norm

Conscious and unconscious body and beauty ideals inform a design. How can
normative ideas be challenged and broken through and new images developed?

On Togetherness

Developing and generating ideas through dialog within a valuable community.
Forging relationships. Cultivating networks. In what kind of environment can
creativity flourish? What are participative and collaborative concepts? What
shared moments does Doing Fashion shape? How can we do fashion together?

On Touch

From the skin as a membrane via which we come into contact with the outside
world, through to the development of explicitly tactile surfaces. Textile
experiments which animate one to grasp them. Artisanry within which the
designer’s manual labor and physical actions are inscribed.

ABOUT DOINGFASHION.CH

« Doing Fashion » nennt sich die ganzheitliche Praxis des Gestaltens, die im
Studiengang Mode-Design ausgeübt wird. «  Doing Fashion  » heisst, sich zu
involvieren und verantwortungsvoll an der Gestaltung von Gegenwart und Zukunft
teilzuhaben. Das wesentliche Ziel ist es, alternative Handlungsräume im Bereich
des Mode-Designs herzustellen und starke Ideen zu verfolgen, die über ein
konventionelles Modeverständnis hinausgehen. Durch das neu aufeinander Beziehen
von Körperwahrnehmung und Design soll sich der Mode in ihrer ästhetischen,
sinnlichen und sozialen Funktion genähert werden. Mode wird als Teil einer
Alltagskultur diskutiert, die kritisch Stellung zu gesellschaftlichen
Veränderungen nimmt und diese im Sinne eines wünschenswerten Wandels
vorantreiben kann.
