He further commended the efforts of the Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture and other Ministries for their roles in orchestrating the flag raising ceremony. “The flag represents more than just a symbol, it signifies the love Basotho have for their country,” highlighted His Majesty. Furthermore, he encouraged everyone to show respect for the national flag and wherever the flag is displayed, it should be honored. He also highlighted the significance of the ceremony as part of the country’s bicentennial and 58th independence. “Basotho should use this moment to reflect on the country’s history and work together towards a brighter future,” mentioned Mr. Matekane. Similarly, the Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, Mr Motlatsi Maqelepo indicated that the event is the opportunity to create projects for future generations. “It is important to educate the youth about the nation’s history and malls are the ideal spaces for attracting tourists,” he added. In conclusion, he said his Ministry is planning to have a Maseru City Tour featuring historic images and the development of King Square which will include the statue of Moshoeshoe I as a lasting tribute to the nation’s founder.
