AGOV – YOUR NEW PUBLIC SERVICE LOGIN

AGOV WILL BE COMING INTO OPERATION IN JANUARY 2024. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS
WEBSITE IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION UNTIL GO-LIVE. THANK YOU.


AGOV is the new public service login for Switzerland. It is not only for use in
federal settings, but also when dealing with cantonal and communal authorities,
for example when completing your tax return. Thanks to new technology, you no
longer need a password to use AGOV. AGOV is more secure and easier to use than a
password-based solution. It is a service provided by the Confederation.




SET UP YOUR SELF-DECLARED AGOV LOGIN IN SIX STEPS


1. GO TO THE WEBSITE WHICH YOU WANT TO LOG INTO

This could be a federal, cantonal or communal portal, or the test website
(agov.ch/test).





2. CHOOSE BETWEEN THE APP AND A SECURITY KEY

The AGOV login works via smartphone or security key. The choice is yours. We
recommend that you use two devices in parallel. This will mean that your access
to the AGOV login is always guaranteed, even if you lose one of your devices.

Option using the AGOV access app
You can use the AGOV access app to log in with Face-ID, Face Unlock, etc. on
your smartphone. The AGOV access app can be downloaded from the App Store (iOS)
or the Play Store (Android).





Option using a security key
If you do not have a smartphone, or do not want to use it for the AGOV login,
you can use a security key in combination with your computer or tablet. You can
find a list of suitable security keys at agov.ch.





3. REGISTER AND CONFIRM YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS


Now register your email address and confirm that you have taken note of the AGOV
privacy statement.





You will then be sent an automated email with a code. Enter this code to confirm
your email address.





4. REGISTER YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS


In the next step, enter your surname, first name, date of birth, etc. in your
user account.





5. REGISTER YOUR AGOV ACCESS APP OR SECURITY KEY


Now link your AGOV access app and/or security key with your user account.








6. KEEP YOUR RECOVERY CODE IN A SAFE PLACE


If you lose your smartphone or security key, you can recover your AGOV login
with a code. This is generated automatically. Print out a copy of the generated
recovery code, or make a note of it. Keep it in a safe place, to ensure that you
always have access to AGOV. You could give a copy of your recovery key to a
family member, or store multiple copies in different places.




You can now log in using the AGOV access app on your smartphone or using your
security key via AGOV.


INCREASE THE QUALITY OF YOUR IDENTITY AUTHENTICATION

Sometimes, the quality of your self-declared AGOV login will not be high enough.
In this case, you will automatically receive instructions on how to improve the
quality of your identity authentication. This could be by post, at the post
office counter, at your door or by video.
