New-wave coffee houses are putting their own twist on the tradition. Many retain
their opulent original decor, and often specialise in a particular cake, such as
the Sacher Torte, an iced-chocolate cake with apricot jam once favoured by
Emperor Franz Josef, at Café Sacher. Patronised by luminaries such as Mahler,
Klimt, Freud, Trotsky and Otto Wagner in their day, Vienna's Kaffeehäuser
(coffee houses) were added to the Unesco list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in

likes of Paris and Rome, one of the charms of Vienna is to just wander the
streets at leisure. The Hunderwasserhaus is a perfect living example of this –
an apartment block in the suburbs of Vienna. One that I personally admire is
Hundertwasser, famous for his use of curves and obsession with leaving out
straight lines.

HundertwasserhausĪustria is a bit of an underdog when it comes to famous
artists. The cafe is right in the heart of town and has an old world feel to it.
Although locals will tell you to give it a miss (granted it is full of
tourists), I still say it is a must do on your first visit to Vienna. Visit Cafe
CentralĬafe Central is the most popular and well known of all the cafes here in
Vienna. You’ll be spoiled with mulled wine, ice rinks and all the sweets you can
squeeze into your pants. Through the month of December, the entire city is abuzz
with Christmas spirit and the heart of that spirit can be found at the many
Christmas markets dotted around the city. I have visited Vienna a few times now
but nothing compares to Vienna at Christmas. If you time your visit in winter,
be sure to try their famous hot chocolate. Demel is one of my favourite
patisseries the world over and it is located right here in the heart of Vienna.
While on the topic of sweets, you can’t pass up the opportunity to fill your bag
with snacks and sweets for your train journey departing Vienna. For the best
sacher torte in the city, head over to Café Sacher. The cake was invented by
Franz Sacher in 1832 for Prince Metternich in Vienna and has since been a
favourite among Viennese and visitors alike. With all that walking, it is time
to reward yourself with cake! The sacher torte is a famous chocolate cake and
the story of its origins are just as famous. You can easily get there via the
Vienna subway system. The palace is grand and totally worth paying the entry fee
as you will be given an audio guide to learn the entire history. Schonbrunn was
the residence of the Hapsburgs and is well worth visiting when you are in
Vienna. Before my visit I thought operas were expensive and for older people but
oh, how wrong I was! Here is our guide to getting cheap opera tickets for as low
as €3! 4. This was the first opera house I ever stepped foot in, back in 2014
when I spent a year travelling the world solo. There are opera houses and then
there is the Vienna State Opera House. The best part is, you still feel like
you’re stepping back in time. Today the cafe culture in Vienna is as strong as
ever. The cafe culture in this city has a long history dating back to the days
of enlightenment when intellectuals would have secret discussions about their
bold ideas. This is perhaps my favourite part about visiting Vienna. If you’re a
history buff like me, don’t pass it up! 2. Guided tours take a couple of hours
and I found it to be incredibly informative. The Hofburg is a great starting
point to get your bearings and get a feel for the city.

From the central point you can verge off in any direction to find a plethora of
cafes, restaurants and boutiques. Today, it is home to the Austrian parliament.
This Baroque palace was once the principal imperial palace of the Habsburg
dynasty rulers. Some have even called it a prettier version of Paris!īegin your
adventure at the Hofburg Palace, located in the heart of the city. The city of
Vienna has gained UNESCO World Heritage status to preserve its unique history.
Cafe culture, Opera, impressive art collections and architecture are among the
activities on your agenda. Not only is Vienna the capital of Austria, but it is
also the cultural hub of all things Austrian.

While far from perfect, BF1's mature approach to recreating a century-old
conflict remains refreshingly different.Ī similarly "grounded, human, and
intimate" campaign is promised for Call of Duty WWII, although it's hard to see
where the bombast and spectacle of Activison's E3 demo fits into that.
Activision assaulted viewers of the the hands-off demo with expertly
choreographed set pieces and wince-worthy headshots. Buildings were razed to the
ground by mortar fire, while the bodies of fallen soldiers were dragged to
safety through fields of dismembered limbs. Medics handed over health packs as
support (your health no longer automatically regenerates), while a man's torso
was bombed to smithereens in glorious technicolour. The Call of Duty
WWII trailer shown at E3 2017.Īn armoured car, driven through town by the
Germans, became a point of attack, after which waves of enemy soldiers
were mowed down by the car's roof-mounted machine gun. In a spectacular ending
to the demo, a bell tower-in which the player has been sniping soldiers-begins
to collapse, beginning a heart-pounding descent to the bottom of the tower with
the aid of a two-ton church bell. Replace the Brownings and the Winchesters with
a modern arsenal, and the blockbuster scenes of the demo could've come from any
CoD of the last 10 years.Ĭall of Duty WWII is every bit the overblown action
movie, but it seems to do little to back up that action with a meaningful plot.
The protagonist, a fresh-faced Texan recruit named Robert "Red" Daniels, is the
classic everyday soldier-the Captain Miller of Saving Private Ryan, or the
Private Witt of The Thin Red Line. But there's little sign that his character
goes any deeper than point and shoot. Not every take on WWII needs to be Saving
Private Ryan, or present a deep and meaningful meditation on the atrocities of
war. But this game is travelling a well-worn narrative path. Activision has
failed to show how, as promised, Call of Duty WWII pushes the conversation
forward.

volcano, even in 2018 when a eruption happened on the east side of the island.
If an eruption did take place, lava could reach the community in hours. About a
quarter of past eruptions have taken place there. On October 22, a meeting was
held to discuss safety measures to residents of Ocean View-a community that lies
in the Kaʻū district, towards the volcano's Northeast Rift Zone. In past days,
the USGS has held meetings to discuss safety measures for those who would be
directly affected if an eruption did take place. While there was significant
damage to power lines and roads were blocked due to the lava flow, nobody was
hurt. Mauna Loa last erupted from March 25 to April 15 in 1984. Officials
continue to stress that the activity does not mean an eruption is imminent.

Parts of the emulator created to keep Stephen Hawking's voice synthesizer
working in the final years of the famous physicist's life were even borrowed
from higan's open source code. We learned a sad news this week, Near is the
author of bsnes, higan, ares, libco and is at the origin of retroarch among
other things. If you've played any of the indie games influenced by EarthBound,
aka Mother 2, then odds are good that game's designer had a copy of EarthBound
open in higan for reference. Near's bsnes was the first Super Nintendo emulator
with 100% compatibility, and higan is a multi-system emulator supporting 26
different devices including the NES, SNES, Game Boy and Game Boy Advance, Sega
Master System and Genesis/Mega Drive, and PC Engine. The linked document also
focuses on the Kiwi Farms forum and the doxing and harassing of Near and their
friends.

Presumably they got Nears real name from the friend and took it to the police.

Known As Near Has Died. Near posted a thread on Twitter explaining how they were
affected by a campaign of harassment organized against them on the Kiwi Farms
forum. Nears bsnes was the first Super Nintendo emulator with 100 compatibility,
and higan is a multi-system emulator supporting 26 different devices including
the NES, SNES, Game Boy and Game Boy Advance, Sega Master System and Genesis.
Hmmmmmm shares a report from PC Gamer: Near, also known by their username Byuu,
the creator of several groundbreaking videogame emulators and a recent
celebrated translation of JRPG Bahamut Lagoon, has died by suicide. The linked
document also focuses on the Kiwi Farms forum and the doxing and harassing of
Near and their friends.

Thankfully, the sleeve is very discreet and you don’t really notice it when not
in use. We didn’t use this feature as we stuck to more urban environments during
our testing, but it’s a good addition if you’re using this pack in an outdoors
environment. There is a sleeve between the back panel and back of the pack for a
hydration bladder. This won’t fix back sweat completely, but it does a good job
of fending it off. There are horizontal gaps in the panel too, which help with
breathability. Osprey Daylite Back Panelįinally, the back panel is made of dense
foam that’s supportive and comfortable against your back. Thankfully, it is
removable, so you can just stash it in a pocket when it’s not needed.

This will come in useful if you’re doing any rigorous activities like rock
climbing or mountain biking, as it will keep the pack tight on your back, but
there’s no padding and it is super thin-so it’s not good for much else. There is
even a hip belt on this thing, which is surprising considering the size. There
is also an adjustable sternum strap with an incorporated whistle, for when
you’re out in the wilderness and need help-or to make everyone jump on a crowded
train for the hell of it. The adjustable mesh shoulder straps are padded and
slightly curved for enhanced comfort and fit.

Starting off with the harness system, the Osprey Daylite delivers a surprisingly
sophisticated carry for such a small pack. External Components Osprey Daylite
Sternum Strap & Shoulder Straps What we can tell you is that they are all from
reliable manufacturers and have worked well in real-world testing. We’d love to
tell you why there are three different buckle brands on this pack, but we have
literally no idea…other than Osprey’s mass production, which allows them to do
so. The side compression buckles and hip belt are YKK, the sternum strap is ITW,
and the shoulder strap buckles are Woojin. Osprey has actually opted for three
different brands for the four different buckles on this pack. The buckles,
however, are a bit more convoluted. YKK Zippers & Plastic Zipper Pulls On The
Osprey DayliteĪll of the zips on this things are YKK-an industry-leading,
Japanese zipper company-and feature hard plastic zipper pulls for easy pulling.
This material does feel a bit cheap, along with the rest of the pack, but it
gets the job done and makes sense with the low price-point of this bag. The
Osprey Daylite is made from 210D Nylon Oxford, which is a lightweight, flexible,

can’t verify that other colors won’t be an exact match to the online images, so
just be wary. Just a note-our black version has a blue/grey tint to it and looks
a bit different compared to the online images.

However, if you’ve always wanted to wear an eggplant purple backpack, you are in
luck! We like the black and stone grey versions, but the other colors are a
touch garish for our liking. We can only imagine that Osprey’s
color-naming-department had a tight budget that quarter and cut a few corners by
settling upon “real red.” But hey, they’re not wrong-it is really red. Osprey
Daylite ColorsĪt the time of this review, the Daylite is available in black,
stone grey, eggplant purple, Tahoe blue, sagebrush blue, primrose yellow, dark
blue orange, and real red. On the back, there is another Osprey logo at the top
and the word “Osprey” on the left shoulder strap. On the front, there is an
Osprey logo at the top and the model name “Daylite” at the bottom. However, it’s
done in a nice way and it’s certainly not overbearing. The branding on this pack
notifies everyone you’re rocking an Osprey, which is what we’ve come to expect
from “outdoorsy” bags. We do polls like this all time, so if you’d like to
partake in the next one, make sure you’re following on Instagram. While we don’t
love the look of this pack, we do like it-and the result of our Instagram poll
showed that 71% agreed with us. There’s no denying that the Osprey Daylite has
an outdoorsy aesthetic, but we think it’s discreet enough to blend into an urban
environment, and it will still, of course, look great in rural locations. A 13
liter daypack described as a “lightweight and versatile companion” that is “a
modern classic in a compact package.” This all sounds great, but how well will
it perform testing? Let’s find out. In this review, we will be taking a look at

WITS AND WAGERS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS PRINTABLE

Wits and Wagers is a great trivia game because it doesn’t matter if you know the
answer or not. Everyone can have fun with it even if they don’t remember
trivia.You just have to be good at knowing who most likely would know the answer
and vote for their answer. I highly recommend the game, it’s so fun! You can
still win if you aren’t great at remembering facts and figures. If you have this
game already, great! Just use the questions and answers below. If you have a
large group, we recommend dividing into 7 teams. If you don’t have the game, you
can read the rules here and improvise with some tokens for the big and little
meeples, and paper to make a game board and answer boards, until you get the
real game. (Keep an eye out for this game at thrift stores, it’s definitely a
keeper.) Write these questions and answers below on index cards or just pieces
of paper with the answer on the back. When you read the question, cover the
answer on the back so no one sees it. I sometimes play this game on Sunday with
my family and use gospel-based questions to make it a more Sabbath Day
appropriate game. You can take turns using a smartphone or laptop to come up
with questions about the gospel and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints that involve numbers. Today I’m focusing on questions about the Book of
Mormon that involve numbers in the answers.

Use these questions as a starting point, then do your own research to find more
number-based questions. Again, all the questions have to be answered with a
