We focus on baseline research on the marine life including terrestrial-marine coupling, biodiversity surveys and the loss of biodiversity, pressing topics such as climate change and ocean acidification as well as marine spatial planning including biogeography and marine protected areas. On this website you can also find information on research institutions, field stations and research vessels in Chilean Patagonia. “In the end, we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught.” – Baba Dioum – In blogs presented in several languages, we will report on important issues related to the planetary triple crisis which encompasses climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss, interconnected challenges threatening humanity’s future on Earth. Our goal is to summarize complex subjects with up to date information and want to give background, analytics of the problem, consequences and possible solutions.
