Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults is a classic Co-op Hack and Slash game, based on the epic Adventure Path of the same name, in which up to four players lead iconic Pathfinder heroes into the farthest depths of Gauntlight Keep, battle deadly monsters and abominations to reach the evil sorceress Belcorra Haruvex and put an end to her vile schemes once and for all. Genre: Online & Local Co-op/Offline Solo Hack and Slash, Action RPG, Dungeon Crawler game Platform: PC (Steam & GOG) GAME SUMMARY * Enter the Mega-Dungeon: Delve deeper into a sprawling mega-dungeon beneath Gauntlight Keep. The Vaults are divided into several distinct biomes, each of which comprises its own chapter of the game. * A diversity of monsters: Each biome presents new foes, hazards, and abominations for the players to overcome. * Four iconic champions to choose from: Amiri the Barbarian, Harsk the Ranger, Kyra the Cleric, and Ezren the Wizard. * Playground of Destruction: The Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults game will give players an arsenal of powerful moves they can strategically use to impact their environment. Jumping strikes, spinning attacks, and powerful and heavy cleaving swings on Amiri -- as well as some pretty cool stuff like breathing dragonfire or giant ancestry, just to name a few! A real toybox of ways to destroy and crush your foes! * Worthwhile Replayability : Many possibilities, including new loadouts with different characters, abilities, passives, and powers. The New Game + feature allows players to restart the adventure from the beginning with their progression intact and an increased difficulty! Our Kickstarter campaign is not just about raising funds. THE HARUVEX LINEAGE The Haruvex family of Absalom has always been known for their immense wealth and sorcerous power. Despite their prominence, they have also garnered a fair share of suspicion and distrust. Their surging power and unexplainable success have led many to speculate about the dark deals they may have made in order to attain their position in society. Approximately 500 years ago, when Belcorra was still a child, her family was exiled from the city as a deserved fate for their involvement in abhorrent rites, including blood sacrifice. The experience left Belcorra with a deep hatred for Absalom, and she lost everything in the process. GAUNTLIGHT AND THE ROSEGUARD As a young woman, Belcorra returned to the Isle of Kortos and built Gauntlight Keep. It was there that she plotted her revenge against Absalom, assembling the powerful Gauntlight, a magical lighthouse with transportative powers. Belcorra's vile plans were ultimately foiled by a group of heroes known as the Roseguard. The Roseguard arrived at the keep and penetrated its defenses, engaging in a climactic final battle with Belcorra. Though they succeeded in striking her down, one of the Roseguard lost their life in the fight. In honor of the fallen hero, the nearby village of Otari was founded and named after him. As for Gauntlight Keep, it fell quiet for hundreds of years, slowly decaying into a ruin. But despite its decay, the keep still held a powerful and dangerous secret… BELCORRA'S RETURN Beneath the surface of Gauntlight Keep, Belcorra secretly amassed an army of cultists, monsters, undead, and fiends. As these creatures continued to dwell under the keep for hundreds of years, they built their own societies and ways of life underground. After almost 500 years of quiet, Belcorra rises again, infused with supernatural rage and fueled to life by a mysterious force. The Gauntlight, her powerful magical creation, begins to shine once more, signaling to the world that she has returned to enact her wicked retribution. Now, brave heroes must once again plunge into the shadowy Abomination Vaults beneath the keep and face an formidable army of evil 500 years in the making. They must navigate treacherous tunnels and crumbling ruins, fighting off hordes of twisted creatures and uncovering the mysteries that have lain dormant for centuries. A fierce tribal warrior who left behind the lands of her tribe to escape the bonds of tradition. Her oversized bastard sword is a trophy from when she was sent on a suicide mission by her tribe’s elders. When Amiri learned of the opportunity to plunge into the unknown depths beneath Gauntlight Keep, she grabbed her massive bastard sword and set off for battle. Never one to back away from a challenge, Amiri leverages her natural strength, agility, and ferocity — and infuses it with the mystical powers of her barbarian rage — to overcome even the most dire of fiends. After years of trying to clear his father's name, Ezren abandoned his old life and became a wizard after his research revealed that his father was indeed guilty of heresy. Ever in search of hidden truths and forgotten secrets, Ezren brings the utility and power of the arcane to bear for his allies. Whether conjuring walls, creatures, and weapons, beguiling enemy threats with devilish enchantments, or simply blasting his enemies with elemental energies — Ezren is a fearsome foe and a capable ally. Standing in the burned ruin of the temple in which she grew up, young Kyra swore her life and sword arm to the Goddess of Sunlight, promising mercy to the deserving… and death to those too evil to be redeemed. While the darkness may be terrifying to some, it is a mere fact of life for Kyra. With the power of Sarenrae at her disposal and an unflinching courage to face any evil in the name of life and light, Kyra ventures toward Gauntlight to protect her allies and dispatch the wretched creature who awaits within. A gruff and driven dwarf, following a vow of justice to avenge his brother's death at the hands of giants. He prefers tea to ale, wanting to keep his senses sharp. To a ranger like Harsk, the underground is just another frontier, full of secrets, dangers, treasures, and fiends. With his dual axes and deadly dwarven crossbow strapped to his back and a loyal beast at his side, Harsk is ready to meet any challenge Gauntlight can muster up. ADVANCEMENT & CUSTOMIZATION Each character in Abomination Vaults is yours to customize via various advancement paths. Feat Selection allows players to tailor their character toward their preferred playstyle as they level up, gaining new powers and bonuses which enhance and specialize their hero. Our intent is to reflect the structure and flexibility found in Pathfinder Second Edition. Each advancement path is designed around a strong central theme for its general playstyle. For example, Ezren's elemental magic specialization will favor direct damage, but also features utility, defense, and control centric powers and benefits (such as freezing enemies with ice, or producing a barrier of energy). ROLES & TEAMWORK Rather than pigeon-holing each hero into a specific job, our vision is to leave it up to the players to define their character's role on the battlefield. Kyra the cleric can make an excellent support character, but she can also become a powerful blaster or a tanky frontliner. Will you build a balanced team, with each character specializing in a unique role? Or will you build a team of pure damage that explodes enemies in a supernova of damage before they have a chance to attack? Or perhaps something else entirely! Our intent is for a balanced approach that always works well, but we also want the players to be able to experiment, try something crazy, and find some very powerful team compositions and ability interactions. We see this element of discovery and experimentation as part of the joy of playing Pathfinder! DEADLY CHAPTERS The mega-dungeon of Gauntlight Keep is divided into unique biomes, each comprising one of the adventure’s chapters. Players must battle through all biomes by working together to overcome each one’s unique diversity of monsters, traps, and terrifying bosses. Will they reach the banshee sorceress Belcorra Haruvex? FOES & ABOMINATIONS The Abomination Vaults is overflowing with vicious and powerful creatures and characters who will pose a tremendous threat to your party of heroes. The game will feature unique behavior sets for different monsters. A kobold will skirmish you from afar and attempt to swarm you, while a ghost might vanish briefly to avoid your attacks, only to reappear behind you, ready to strike. As for boss battles, it’s all about the abominations! Face down a wide roster of bosses, each featuring a unique combination of mechanics, weaknesses and resistances, surprises, minion waves and environmental hazards. RETURN TO TOWN Every party needs somewhere to rest between adventures. Thankfully, the cozy village of Otari awaits players seeking to regroup with their allies, upgrade their gear, take on quests, learn more about the world, or just kick back with a meal and an ale. SINGLE PLAYER VS COOPERATIVE Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults is designed for 1-4 players as a co-op experience. It's adapted to create a great experience no matter your group size. The game will allow offline single player. COMBATS & COMBOS Combat is designed to feel powerful and rewarding, while still celebrating its Pathfinder 2E core through the abilities, spells, and playstyles of its classes and monsters. Encounters will be designed to encourage interaction and teamwork, with some characters specializing in frontlining, others in disruption, and others in protection, depending on how characters are customized with their ability trees. We also aspire to create a unique "Combo Effects System" in which players can interact with each other's powers to create larger and more powerful outcomes, such as: spinning through a firewall to create a flame vortex, shooting a multi-shot of crossbow bolts through a freezing fog to create frost bolts that ensnare your foes, or casting lightning on a protective barrier to create an electrified personal barrier that shocks nearby enemies. WORLD COMES ALIVE We will develop an immersive experience in the richly detailed setting of Abomination Vaults. Voice acted characters, rich ambiance, music and stunning VFX all have a role to play (no pun intended) in creating the most immersive experience possible for our brave adventurers. Players can learn profoundly about the heroes as they delve deeper into Gauntlight and feel invested in their characters as well as the dramatic stakes of the story. Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults’s art style sets the right tone and atmosphere for the game. We want to create a strong contrast in our environments to highlight the differences between gameplay spaces and backgrounds. Each biome has two main colors that dictate the overall mood and create that gloomy, worrisome atmosphere. Mixing saturated colors with realistic decor and adding some larger than life objects, really helps convey that epic Pathfinder feeling we want. On top of that, our VFX will be a real spectacle. Vibrant colors of magic and fire will contrast the environment, creating a feast for the eye that will bring high levels of satisfaction for the players. CHARACTER DESIGN The design for our main characters was largely inspired by their existing visual representation in the Pathfinder universe. We primarily focused on reaching a good balance between a realistic style and a more artistic approach. Our main goal for the audio of the game is immersion. Players can get into the tone of the game and feel the darkness as they go deeper and deeper into this strange, terrifying place. The different biomes the players can encounter will come to life with their immersive ambiance audio. In a cave, players can hear sounds of water dripping and bats flying over. In a crypt, players can hear the moans of the undead, or just the thrum of magical energy filling the room. It’s all about using sound to create a realistic ambiance. Characters will come to life through their voice. Voice-acting is a big part of how players will discover who the heroes and villains really are. We want to include as much voice-acting as possible. Conversations between characters will also happen as you’re playing. Music is also essential to set the tone during the different phases of the game. It will hit crescendos during a fierce battle, but will settle back down in a more eerie, mysterious ambiance when the players are in exploration mode.
