PTC NSW is the peak umbrella body that provides support and member services to its member associations. PTC NSW unifies teaching associations and sectors bringing together professional interests and education activities throughout NSW. PTC NSW represents professional teacher associations across all levels of education; including early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary. As well as all systems and sectors covering Government, Catholic systemic, Independent schools and Tertiary institutions. PTC NSW has a commitment to the professional development of teachers and to enhancing the professionalism of teachers and the quality of education in New South Wales. PTC NSW provides a strong collective corporate voice on educational issues through submissions to, and lobbying of Governments and other authorities on agreed educational issues and concerns. It provides an independent, non-partisan forum for the discussion of education policy. PTC NSW plays an active co-ordinating role for professional teachers’ associations in NSW by: * Liaising on behalf of associations with the NSW Department of Education (DoE), the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) , NSW Institute of Teachers, Tertiary institutions, State and Federal governments * Maintaining an active and effective link with Professional Teaching Councils in other States and Territories through the Australian Joint Council of Professional Teaching Associations (APTA) * Co-ordinating activities and information within and across all Key Learning Areas * Arranging forums on educational issues, networks, newsletters, professional development and efficient communication modes * Acting as a clearing house for policy documents and information from the NSW Department of Education (DoE), the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), NSW Minister for Education, Federal Minister for Education, Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) and NSW Institute of Teachers Why should teachers join a professional teachers’ association? Professional teachers’ associations provide a wealth of specific current information across all KLA’s. Regular curriculum updates are provided via these networks ensuring teachers know of current directions and changes to curriculum or policy across all schools and sectors. Specific annual accredited professional development experiences are developed by associations, ensuring contemporary support for all members. So if you are not a member make contact with your association via their website and join, so you too can be a proud member of a professional teachers’ association of NSW! Members of Professional Teaching Associations are: * People in the know who are up to date, current and informed! * Take advantage of the opportunities provided by YOUR professional association * Associations – Join the professional network that really matters! PTA’s deliver the greatest number and variety of cross- sectoral professional development opportunities to their members across NSW of any other provider. PTAs support their members through quality, cutting-edge professional development.
