What You Will Be Doing – The Job: As Manager of MCWD’s Permitting Program, you will: Think and Act Strategically. * Cultivate data insights and maintain situational awareness of the surrounding environment, including changing trends in land use planning, development, water resources, and the broader regulatory environment. * Develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain appropriate strategic direction for MCWD’s permitting program. * Recommend new policy change and regulatory strategies that improve the interface between land use and water resource planning. Build Partnerships and Make an Impact: * Build and sustain relationships with key partners including MCWD cities, state and regional agencies, private land developers, and their consulting teams. * Work with staff, legal, and engineering teams to implement and continuously improve MCWD’s permitting program, review permit applications, and resolve compliance issues with active construction sites. * Identify and negotiate public-private partnerships with permit applicants and members of the land use community to build projects that improve water quality, reduce flooding, and contribute to place within the watershed. * Distill dense, technically-complex information into clear, concise and compelling stories that support the evolution of the permitting program and MCWD’s brand reputation. What You Will Bring to MCWD: * A passion for advancing MCWD’s vision of watershed management * 5+ years of experience in natural resource management, land use planning or related discipline * Proven experience inspiring, leading, developing and managing small teams * An ability to spot relevant patterns and issues, and forge new alternative ways forward * The capacity to track, digest, and manage detail while maintaining a strategic perspective * A drive to stretch, learn, and grow in a high performing environment * Flexible thinking, adaptability, and a desire to actively manage change * A propensity for interpersonal communications, and the ability to build consensus * A drive to build lasting relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders What We Can Offer You: MCWD believes that taking care of its people is the right thing to do.
