The STAR exam is a nationally recognized test that identifies a technician’s qualifications and skill levels in the heating, air conditioning, and plumbing industry. The exams are provided through the local UA union and in many cases is a stepping stone for apprentices to become a journeyman at the end of the apprenticeship program. The STAR certification exam is considered to be one of the hardest exams in the HVAC and Plumbing industry. Individuals that pass this exam are in the elite class of service technicians and are able to work on virtually any type of HVAC and plumbing equipment.
