A newly-formed taskforce, fueled by passion and driven by community leaders, is committed to creating lasting solutions. The Plan Taskforce Planning For the Future IT'S ABOUT RESTORING DIGNITY With a clear focus on reducing unsheltered homelessness in the next year and building a comprehensive plan for the future, this initiative isn’t just about addressing homelessness—it’s about restoring dignity, hope, and stability to the most vulnerable among us. We know we don’t have all the answers yet, but together, with the support of our community, we are determined to make a real, transformative difference. Now is the time for action. Now is the time for Greenville to lead. The ACTION Plan KEY INITIATIVES IN GREENVILLE'S HOMELESSNESS ACTION PLAN FORMING A COMMUNITY TASKFORCE A diverse and inclusive taskforce representing leaders from various sectors (public, private, civic, faith-based) will come together to develop and implement both short- and long-term action plans. Learn More ONE-YEAR ACTION PLAN TO REDUCE UNSHELTERED HOMELESSNESS (LAUNCH: NOVEMBER 2024) Focuses on immediate strategies to reduce unsheltered homelessness through rapid response, community engagement, and targeted solutions. THREE-YEAR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TO TACKLE HOMELESSNESS ACROSS ALL POPULATIONS (LAUNCH: JANUARY 2025) A long-term, sustainable plan designed to address all forms of homelessness, providing pathways to housing stability and support services for diverse populations. ENGAGEMENT OF THE LIVED-EXPERIENCE COUNCIL A dedicated council comprising individuals with direct experiences of homelessness will offer their expertise, ensuring the plans remain people-centered and inclusive. Their insights will be crucial for shaping solutions that reflect the realities faced by those experiencing homelessness. COLLABORATIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM A core leadership team will steer the planning and implementation process, providing guidance, coordinating with the taskforce, and ensuring all steps are aligned with the initiative’s goals. SERVICE PROVIDER LISTENING SESSIONS AND FOCUS GROUPS The initiative will host listening sessions and focus groups with service providers and people experiencing homelessness to gather qualitative data, understand on-the-ground realities, and refine strategies accordingly. FOCUS ON PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS AND COMMUNITY COLLABORATION Collaboration across sectors will be at the forefront of this initiative, bringing businesses, non-profits, service providers, and local government together to create sustainable, community-led solutions. This includes dialogues around best practices and shared responsibilities. REGULAR CHECK-INS AND PROGRESS MONITORING Ongoing virtual and in-person meetings with stakeholders, key leaders, and the community will be held to track progress, ensure transparency, and make adjustments as needed. CITY COUNCIL UPDATES AND PUBLIC BRIEFINGS The taskforce will regularly update the City Council and other key audiences to maintain public engagement, build trust, and keep the community informed of progress. BEST PRACTICE DIALOGUES WITH PROVIDERS AND FUNDERS Hosting best practice sessions to discuss successful approaches from Greenville and other communities, helping to inform local solutions and ensure that resources are used effectively. COMPREHENSIVE METRICS FOR SUCCESS AND ACCOUNTABILITY The initiative will implement a system to co-design metrics that measure progress and ensure accountability throughout the project, helping to track both short-term achievements and long-term goals. LAUNCH OF IMPLEMENTATION FRAMEWORK FOR HOMELESSNESS REDUCTION Both the one-year and three-year plans will include clear implementation timelines, roles, and responsibilities to ensure a structured, action-oriented approach to achieving the initiative’s goals.
