GREENVILLE UNITES: A BOLD NEW TASKFORCE TO END HOMELESSNESS

In an unprecedented move, Greenville is rallying together to confront the urgent
crisis of homelessness head-on. A newly-formed taskforce, fueled by passion and
driven by community leaders, is committed to creating lasting solutions.

The Plan
Taskforce

Planning For the Future

IT'S ABOUT RESTORING DIGNITY

With a clear focus on reducing unsheltered homelessness in the next year and
building a comprehensive plan for the future, this initiative isn’t just about
addressing homelessness—it’s about restoring dignity, hope, and stability to the
most vulnerable among us. We know we don’t have all the answers yet, but
together, with the support of our community, we are determined to make a real,
transformative difference. Now is the time for action. Now is the time for
Greenville to lead.

The ACTION Plan

KEY INITIATIVES IN GREENVILLE'S HOMELESSNESS ACTION PLAN

response, community engagement, and targeted solutions.

THREE-YEAR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TO TACKLE HOMELESSNESS ACROSS ALL POPULATIONS
(LAUNCH: JANUARY 2025)

A long-term, sustainable plan designed to address all forms of homelessness,
providing pathways to housing stability and support services for diverse
populations.

ENGAGEMENT OF THE LIVED-EXPERIENCE COUNCIL

A dedicated council comprising individuals with direct experiences of
homelessness will offer their expertise, ensuring the plans remain
people-centered and inclusive. Their insights will be crucial for shaping
solutions that reflect the realities faced by those experiencing homelessness.

COLLABORATIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM

A core leadership team will steer the planning and implementation process,
providing guidance, coordinating with the taskforce, and ensuring all steps are
aligned with the initiative’s goals.

SERVICE PROVIDER LISTENING SESSIONS AND FOCUS GROUPS

The initiative will host listening sessions and focus groups with service
providers and people experiencing homelessness to gather qualitative data,
understand on-the-ground realities, and refine strategies accordingly.

FOCUS ON PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS AND COMMUNITY COLLABORATION

Collaboration across sectors will be at the forefront of this initiative,
bringing businesses, non-profits, service providers, and local government
together to create sustainable, community-led solutions. This includes dialogues
around best practices and shared responsibilities.

REGULAR CHECK-INS AND PROGRESS MONITORING

Ongoing virtual and in-person meetings with stakeholders, key leaders, and the
community will be held to track progress, ensure transparency, and make
adjustments as needed.

CITY COUNCIL UPDATES AND PUBLIC BRIEFINGS

The taskforce will regularly update the City Council and other key audiences to
maintain public engagement, build trust, and keep the community informed of
progress.

BEST PRACTICE DIALOGUES WITH PROVIDERS AND FUNDERS

Hosting best practice sessions to discuss successful approaches from Greenville
and other communities, helping to inform local solutions and ensure that
resources are used effectively.

COMPREHENSIVE METRICS FOR SUCCESS AND ACCOUNTABILITY

The initiative will implement a system to co-design metrics that measure
progress and ensure accountability throughout the project, helping to track both
short-term achievements and long-term goals.

LAUNCH OF IMPLEMENTATION FRAMEWORK FOR HOMELESSNESS REDUCTION

Both the one-year and three-year plans will include clear implementation
timelines, roles, and responsibilities to ensure a structured, action-oriented
approach to achieving the initiative’s goals.
