The CAN-8 VirtuaLab is a cloud-based language learning solution specializing in

A PERSONALIZED STUDY PROGRAM

Each student, school-age or adult, has different individual academic needs and
challenges that standardized curriculum does not address. The CAN-8 VirtuaLab
allows teachers to easily customize the curriculum to target these needs and
focus on specific challenges such as pronunciation, comprehension, intonation,
rhythm patterns, expressions and dialects.


AN ADAPTABLE PACE

The software is designed to provide students with the closest experience
possible to a language immersion course through exercises that simulate
conversations and group discussions. Each student is given the opportunity to
express themselves individually and practice their new language at their own
pace - as often as they want and for as long as they need to achieve
proficiency.


REDUCED WORKLOADS

With teachers' workloads in mind, CAN-8 is designed to simplify the evaluation
of student work. Answers are loaded automatically, organized in an easy-to-read
colour-coded table and available to the instructor instantly as the student
progresses through their work, thus saving valuable time.


A VERSATILE TOOL

Teachers can engage with their students, participate in group discussions and
give oral feedback providing valuable assistance and encouragement to each
student on their individual continuum of learning.
Much more than just a practice tool, the CAN-8 VirtuaLab allows for the creation
of placement tests, quizzes and evaluations.


ENHANCED SECURITY

Sites with curriculum materials that must be kept confidential, such as
government departments or corporate offices, may easily implement a private
in-house cloud server. This ensures the highest level of security for training
materials, as they are not accessible outside the internal network.
Multiple levels of protection exist within CAN-8 to ensure that users' names,
responses and marks are only available to authorized personnel as specified by
the system administrator.
The design of CAN-8 also limits the ability of users to copy material from the
lessons, keeping your curriculum securely stored on the server and preventing
students from sharing it with their peers.

CAN-8 includes all the tools necessary to create government mandated assessments
and exams, self-correcting quizzes, placement tests and timed evaluations.

LANGUAGE PRESERVATION

Currently CAN-8 is being used by several First Nation groups to preserve and
teach Cree, Ojibwe, Mohawk, Cayuga, Interior Salish, Mi'kmaq, and other
languages and dialects. CAN-8 is the perfect solution to preserve oral
traditions threatened with extinction due to a declining population of native
speakers. At the same time, it can be used to teach languages where there is
little or no existing teaching material. Non-Roman and syllabic characters are
fully supported with customizable virtual keyboards to facilitate typing text in
these less common languages.

ABOUT OUR LICENSES

CAN-8 is sold with a license that allows a specific concurrent number of
connections to the cloud. This number depends on the needs of the site. These
connections are not limited to specific workstations, to geographical location,
or to individual users. CAN-8 can be installed on any number of workstations,
can be installed for remote access (home users) or for in-lab use and you can
register up to 65000 users within CAN-8.

When a user starts CAN-8, the software first checks to see if a license is
available to use. If yes, a license is removed from the pool of licenses and
assigned to that user. When the user exits the application, or the license is
idle for a period, the license goes back into the pool, becoming available to
other users.

This Licensing method offer several advantages:

 * Cost-effective. The initial cost of the license is divided by the number of
   students and the number of years the system is being used, thus quickly
   becoming a much more affordable solution than individual or per-station
   licensing.
 * Complete licensing control: The licensing distribution is customizable by the
   client. Organizations can choose whether students can access the licenses
   online or in specific classrooms or labs. Use of licenses can also be
   scheduled for certain periods of time and within certain labs. Once on-line
   users are deleted from the software, they no longer have access to your
   licenses.

This Licensing method offer several advantages:

 * Cost-effective. The initial cost of the license is divided by the number of
   students and the number of years the system is being used, thus quickly
   becoming a much more affordable solution than individual or per-station
   licensing.
 * Complete licensing control: The licensing distribution is customizable by the
   client site. Sites can make their licenses available online or not, can
   reserve these licenses for lab use only for part of the day and make them
   available online at evening time, or on specific days. Once on-line users are
   deleted from the software, they no longer have access to your licenses.

Support and maintenance

Sounds Virtual includes one full year of free support and maintenance when you
purchase a CAN-8 system. During the support term, our technical experts will
give you dedicated assistance with using the CAN-8 system, resolving technical
issues with data management tasks such as server backups, or migrations to other
server hardware. The maintenance aspect provides your site with the most recent
versions of the CAN-8 software include all enhancements and fixes made at no
extra cost. This service can be renewed on a yearly basis.
