Title: 60 1 Lets get real. Losing fat and gaining muscle is the “goal” for many women. And while it is achievable, this will take time, effort, and you will have to target your focus. First and most important factor here, you cannot grow muscle, or grow your glutes while you are in a calorie deficit! And If there is some thing that you really want in life you will go after it and you will achieve it, I truly believe that as well. If you start telling yourself: “ I am going to wake up earlier“ but you never do it, you’re reiterating to yourself that you’re not capable… If you start telling yourself: “ I am going to start my own business“ But you get frustrated at the first sign that it’s going to be hard and you give up on yourself, you’re reiterating to yourself that you’re not capable.. You deserve full happiness but you also have to believe that you deserve that happiness and that’s going to come from you recognizing what that looks like for you long-term. One of the best things that you can do for yourself is start calling yourself out on the habits that you have in place right now that aren’t helping you become the person you want to be, if you want to become stronger, if you want to become more aligned with your goals you have to start showing up as a person every single day. Don’t buy into it anyone else tells you is going to make you happy, start showing up for yourself in the ways that actually matter. This may work for a select few, however for most of us, our bodies will only get run down, Mal-recovered, and burnt out! For my coaching clients: when we train, we train HARD, EFFECTIVE, and with PURPOSE, we don’t need all that extra volume! In fact, you’ll find that you will build MORE muscle, lose MORE body fat, and recover MUCH faster using least effective dose training. If our body is responding well to minimal volume, high intensity training, why up the volume? It will only hinder your recovery and reduce our chances of building the muscle we are working so hard for. This varies on an individual basis, however can be applied to our programs to yield the best results. Don’t get caught up in the modern fitness industry scans of over exercising! Title: 249 8 What I did and ate on a Saturday in Oahu! Such a perfect weekend in Oahu, exploring with some friends, eating all of my favorite things, and genuinely just relaxing, which was so needed. Whenever I’m in Hawaii it’s absolutely a time where I’m reflecting and focusing on how much I really need to take more time to slow down. Being in such a beautiful place, surrounded by nature, really reminds you watch important. Experience, connection, and being present. Here’s everything we did, and ate on a beautiful Saturday! We ended up doing an early hikes of grabbed some iced oat milk, lattes, and egg bites from Starbucks in the morning ! Hikes the Pali puka trail in Oahu, definitely intermediate to advanced, and a very steep hike! But worth the views!! Grabbed some smoothie bowls from sunrise shack in Kailua and then hit the beach at Lanikai! Poke bowls from foodland farms at Ala moena and picked up some groceries! Went to bed super early before heading out tomorrow at 3am for an epic adventure! Do you guys like this kind of content? I was 15 years old, and Cosmo magazine told me that Apple cider vinegar would “ boost my metabolism” and help me lose fat. I ate spinach because it had 5 cal, and I cut out bananas for probably two years of my life because of the sugar content Now that I have been in the health and fitness industry as a personal trainer for over yand learned about flexible dieting around 9 years ago, my life is pretty much dedicated to teaching women not to make the same mistakes that I did!! The biggest mistake that you can make when it comes to approaching fat loss with your nutritional strategy is cutting out a major food group that is essential in your diet. The other biggest mistakes that you can make is restricting yourself!! Not learning about the importance of all three macronutrients and depriving yourself of the foods you love which is generally going to perpetuate a negative relationship with food. There is no one food that’s going to cause fat loss or weight gain!! And demonizing foods, or demonizing tracking your macros is not going to do anything to help your progress or your mindset with food and your body. To lose body fat you need to be consuming less calories as a whole, and to optimize your body composition and your physical progress/strength and energy you need to be eating a balance of macro nutrients, generally recommended 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fat if you are someone who is working out consistently! Don’t get caught up in the idea that you need to restrict yourself from the foods you love in order to see progress because that just isn’t true! Title: 96 2 LAURA!! So damn proud of you!! When Laura and I started working her goal was to gain more muscle, change your body composition, and really get some more help learning about tracking macros with accountability!! We have now been working together for almost 40 weeks! Here is some of what Laura has to say: “Working with Sarah has been amazing! Not only have I learned more about living a healthy lifestyle and balance, I am also way more confident in myself and my mentally about myself and health has evolved in a way I wasn’t expecting. I cannot thank Sarah enough for this journey.” When we started together, Laura had been hitting a plateau and was feeling a little bit lost with her nutrition, we started her around 2300 cal which was a little bit above her current maintenance and we started with a 15 week cut!! The progress photos that you’re seeing here are from the past 19 weeks of reverse dieting!! We build up her calories from 1526 at the end of her cut, to now at 2160 cal in the past 19 weeks!! Title: 30.8K 117 I have made a lot of decisions in my life that even myself at the time greatly questioned my own sanity while doing so.. Moving across the country at 18 with pretty much no security with finances or the life I was creating at the time. Going to school, paying for community college well working three jobs because at the time I thought I needed to become a doctor to be successful. Becoming a personal trainer because I loved working out without knowing that it would actually become my entire career and my entire purpose. And then without MUCH contemplation decided it was time to move to another Extremely Risky Pl., San Diego, dropping out of college after three years and pursuing my passion with training and coaching. A lot of people would look at the decisions I have made and really question what the hell I was thinking. At the time all I knew was that I had really great work ethic, I loved training, I loved working with people one on one and I knew that I could change peoples lives. My life before that, I was living with the idea of what my life should look like. My life after I decided to start taking risky AF decisions with the life that I actually wanted to build. And no it wasn’t easy. I was 18, going to school full-time, working three jobs, in a new city where I knew a couple of family members, the boyfriend that I had moved with and pretty much two girlfriends that I had made. I made those decisions because I knew the life that I wanted to create. But I never knew how I would get there. Honestly, sometimes I still don’t know. But I know that I love my clients, I know I’m damn good at what I do and I know that fitness is my passion in life. So to my grandma, I love you but I now know that I don’t need to finish that degree to be successful. It doesn’t make me less knowledgeable, it doesn’t make me less worthy, it doesn’t make me less likely to succeed. I’m educated, I’m certified and I put in the work.
