Bitcoin trade in Japan accounts for about half of the global trade volume. That
number has surged since the government passed a new law earlier this year,
recognizing bitcoin as a legal form of currency. CNBC's Akiko Fujita reports.

Are we to see Japan take a leadership role in Digital Finance in the same way it
took the lead from America in manufacturing in the 1960/70s? The huge Japanese
financial firm, SBI, has announced its first Digital security to be issued on a
Blockchain platform SBI stating, “The company considers STOs a “core technology
of fintech” and plans to tokenize a number of other assets in the future. The
firm stated that it looks to tokenize assets like real estate, fine art, and
intellectual property rights including copyrights for games and movies”. Bank of
Japan has published a paper on CBDC, in case they see interest from people in
Japan. The healthcare sector is another industry where the Japanese are looking
to harnessing the power of Blockchain technology. Japan has an ageing
population, therefore placing huge demand on its universal health coverage (UHC)
to look after the elderly and provide long-term care. It will need to balance
the need for care, potentially with a shortage of health care workers and the
difference in access to medical facilities in rural parts of Japan compared to
more urban locations. Medical research this year claims, “Blockchain technology
has the potential to address some of these challenges, but only if a health
blockchain is, designed, localised, and deployed in a way that is compatible
with Japan's centralised UHC-centric public health system”. Therefore, in view
of this, will we see a decentralised technology being used by a highly
centralised healthcare sector in Japan? Meanwhile, the multinational Japanese
‘heavy weight’ NEC has just acquired Avaloq, for $2.2 billion. Avaloq is a Swiss
FinTech firm specialising in banking, wealth management and digital payments and
has a great deal of experience in, guess what, Blockchain! Avaloq offers wealth
management tech solutions responsible for $4.9 trillion of assets for variety of
banks, including Agricultural Bank of China, Barclays, Coutts, Deutsche Bank,
HSBC, Nomura and Société Générale. NEC is also working with 8 of Japan’s leading
insurance companies to determine how Blockchain technology can improve processes
and has been building a Blockchain-powered platform for the Tokyo Stock Exchange
in order to help improve efficiency of post-trade operations. People forget
Japan is still the third biggest economy globally. It is fast and smart, with
its citizens having some of the world’s biggest cash piles ready to invest. With
its ageing demography this means that becoming a leader in digitisation, and not
manufacturing, offers longer-term economic security and prosperity for the
nation.

The immense success and the hunger to explore crypto regulations in different
countries ended up in bringing the next chapter of my writing series, ‘The
Cryptocurrency Breakthrough 2020 – Synopsis 9’- Cryptocurrency Regulations in
Japan Japan is one of the world leaders in the development of the blockchain
industry and currently the world’s most crypto-friendly country. Cryptocurrency
in Japan is considered as a legal tender and accepted widely as a mode of
payment. Japan is the world’s biggest market for Bitcoin and one of the first
countries to regulate cryptocurrencies, exchanges, institutions, and the funds
involved in the business. Japanese Government on Cryptocurrency Japan has always
been on the leading edge of technology development of all time. And the research
brings a major breakthrough to the world in the field of robotics, high-speed
rail, and portable devices. So, it’s not surprising that cryptocurrency has
found such a foothold in the country. Japan found it’s a new mode of payment in
cryptocurrency (specifically Bitcoin). Moreover, any technology that benefits
the economy of Japan, receives tremendous support from the government. The
government has worked with many tech companies as they are aware of the fact
that technologies and inventions are always profitable for the economy. Recently
in January 2020, Japan’s ruling party lawmakers proposed the idea of issuing
Japan’s own digital currency. However, the finance minister Aso clarified that
the central banks would study the idea positively but at present, the government
has no plans to issue crypto. How the government has Regulated Cryptocurrencies?
Cryptocurrencies in Japan are treated as legal tender and the exchanges are
required to register with the financial service agency. Cryptocurrency has a
good, progressive base in Japan until a series of hacks that took place led to
an urgent national concern. Hence, Japan’s Financial Service Agency(FSA) stepped
in to regulate trading and exchanges. An amendment was passed to the Payment
Service Act which requires the Cryptocurrency Agencies to be registered with FSA
in order to operate. The FSA imposed stricter requirements under cybersecurity,
Anti-money laundering, and Counter Terror Financing. Japan’s FSA held talks with
the exchanges and agreed to form a self-regulatory body the Japanese Virtual
Currency Exchange Association (JVCEA) which will provide advice to unlicensed
exchanges and promote regulatory compliance. Established in April 2018, JVCEA
announced to enforce stricter regulations for the ‘Hot Wallet’ after the hot
wallets were targeted in the hacks. It became an officially recognized
regulatory body on October 24, 2018. In case of the ICO’s, if the ICO’s target
the customers in Japan then they too have to get registered as a Virtual
Currency Exchange Provider TheCrypto Regulations in Japan are getting stronger
with the time Taxation and Mining Government Taxes on Cryptocurrency Japan terms
the income from the cryptocurrency as ‘Miscellaneous Income’. The Japanese
National Tax Agency which looks after the taxations in Japan have released some
guidelines on the Tax treatment on Cryptocurrencies. Interestingly not all the
people are subjected to tax on their cryptocurrency investments as per the
guidelines. The people with more than 200,000 Yen ($1,700) remuneration are
subjected to tax and the income less than the mentioned amount is exempted.
However, they too need to declare their income. In case of gains incurred from
cryptocurrencies, the tax varies from 5% – 45% and an additional 10% is added to
every level as ‘Municipal taxes’. Hence the cryptocurrency owners in Japan pay
the highest tax rate of about 55% on their profits. Crypto Mining in Japan As
said above, Japanese citizens were among the first to start mining. Japan has
attracted more of the crypto miners by its cheap electricity from geothermal,
winds, and hydropower. Many companies have set up mining businesses with more
than 500 servers in Japan. However. The mining business is still under the
process of regulation. LIKE, COMMENT, SUB, TELL YOUR FRIENDS! Stay Inside and Be

Japan (i/dʒəˈpæn/; Japanese: 日本 Nippon [nip̚põ̞ɴ] or Nihon [nihõ̞ɴ]; formally
日本国  Nippon-koku or Nihon-koku, "State of Japan") is an island country in East
Asia. Located in the Pacific Ocean, it lies to the east of the Sea of Japan, the
East China Sea, China, North Korea, South Korea and Russia, stretching from the
Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea and Taiwan in the south. The
kanji that make up Japan's name mean "sun origin", and Japan is often called the
"Land of the Rising Sun".

Japan is a stratovolcanic archipelago of 6,852 islands. The four largest are
Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku, which make up about ninety-seven percent
of Japan's land area. Japan's population of 126 million is the world's tenth
largest. Approximately 9.1 million people live in Tokyo, the capital city of
Japan, which is the sixth largest city proper in the OECD. The Greater Tokyo
Area, which includes Tokyo and several surrounding prefectures, is the world's
largest metropolitan area with over 35 million residents and the world's largest
urban agglomeration economy.

JAPAN PAVILION AT EPCOT

The Japan Pavilion is a Japan-themed pavilion that is part of the World
Showcase, within Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Its location is
between The American Adventure and Moroccan Pavilions.

HISTORY

The Japan Pavilion is one of the original World Showcase pavilions and had been
in planning since the late 1970s. Many attractions have been proposed for the
pavilion and one show building was built, but left unused. Meet the World was
one planned attraction and was a clone of the attraction Meet the World that was
once at Tokyo Disneyland. But because management thought that the Japanese
film's omission of World War II might upset many Veterans, it was dropped. The
show was so close to opening that the show building and rotating platform was
built, but not used.

For years, Imagineers have considered building an indoor roller coaster
attraction based on Matterhorn Bobsleds from Disneyland but themed to Japan's
Mount Fuji inside a replica of Mount Fuji. At one point, Godzilla or a large
lizard attacking guests in their cars was considered. Fujifilm originally wanted
to sponsor the ride in the early 1990s, but Kodak, a major Epcot sponsor,
convinced Disney to decline the sponsorship. Luckily, the Matterhorn derived
design elements survived to be incorporated into Expedition Everest at Disney's
Animal Kingdom Park. Another proposed attraction was a walk-through version of
"Circle-Vision", in which guests would board and walk through a Shinkansen
(bullet train) and look through windows (actually film screens) that showcase
Japan's changing landscapes. The train would have shaken and moved like a train
traveling through the countryside.

JAPAN IN GULLIVER’S TRAVELS

Japan is referred to in Gulliver's Travels, the satire by Jonathan Swift.

Part III of the book has the account of Lemuel Gulliver's visit to Japan, the
only real location visited by him. It is used as a venue for Swift's satire on
the actions of Dutch traders to that land. His description reflects the state of
European knowledge of the country in the 17th and early 18th centuries, and the
tensions due to commercial rivalry between the English and the Dutch at that
time.

DESCRIPTION

Japan is shown on the map at the beginning of part III, which also shows the
island of "Yesso" (i.e. Hokkaido), "Stats island" (Iturup) and "Companys Land"
(Urup) to the north. The map also marks the Vries Strait and Cape Patience,
though this is shown on the northeast coast of Yesso, rather than as part of
Sakhalin, which was little known in Swift’s time. On the island of Japan itself
the map shows "Nivato" (Nagato), Yedo, "Meaco" (Kyoto), Inaba and "Osacca"
(Osaka)

The text describes Gulliver's journey from Luggnagg, which took fifteen days,
and his landing at "Xamoschi" (i.e. Shimosa} which lies "on the western part of
a narrow strait leading northward into a long arm of the sea, on the northwest
part of which Yedo, the metropolis stands". This description matches the
geography of Tokyo Bay, except that Shimosa is on the north, rather than the
western shore of the bay.

With
its ageing demography this means that becoming a leader in digitisation, and not
manufacturing, offers longer-term economic security and prosperity for the
nation.

and has been building a Blockchain-powered platform for the Tokyo Stock Exchange
in order to help improve efficiency of post-trade operations.

Japan, a trusted partner for foreign businesses, provides access to high

JAPAN INCREASINGLY TURNING TO BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY

Are we to see Japan take a leadership role in Digital Finance in the same way
it took the lead from America in manufacturing in the 1960/70s? The huge
Japanese financial firm, SBI, has announced its first Digital security to be
issued on a Blockchain platform SBI stating, “The company considers STOs a
“core technology of fintech” and plans to tokenize a number of other assets
in the future. The firm stated that it looks to tokenize assets like real
estate, fine art, and intellectual property rights including copyrights for
games and movies”. Bank of Japan has published a paper on CBDC, in case they
see interest from people in Japan. The healthcare sector is another industry
where the Japanese are looking to harnessing the power of Blockchain
technology. Japan has an ageing population, therefore placing huge demand on
its universal health coverage (UHC) to look after the elderly and provide
long-term care. It will need to balance the need for care, potentially with a
shortage of health care workers and the difference in access to medical
facilities in rural parts of Japan compared to more urban locations. Medical
research this year claims, “Blockchain technology has the potential to
address some of these challenges, but only if a health blockchain is,
designed, localised, and deployed in a way that is compatible with Japan's
centralised UHC-centric public health system”. Therefore, in view of this,
will we see a decentralised technology being used by a highly centralised
healthcare sector in Japan? Meanwhile, the multinational Japanese ‘heavy
weight’ NEC has just acquired Avaloq, for $2.2 billion. Avaloq is a Swiss
FinTech firm specialising in banking, wealth management and digital payments
and has a great deal of experience in, guess what, Blockchain! Avaloq offers
wealth management tech solutions responsible for $4.9 trillion of assets for
variety of banks, including Agricultural Bank of China, Barclays, Coutts,
Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Nomura and Société Générale. NEC is also working with 8
of Japan’s leading insurance companies to determine how Blockchain technology
can improve processes and has been building a Blockchain-powered platform for
the Tokyo Stock Exchange in order to help improve efficiency of post-trade
operations. People forget Japan is still the third biggest economy globally.
It is fast and smart, with its citizens having some of the world’s biggest
cash piles ready to invest. With its ageing demography this means that
becoming a leader in digitisation, and not manufacturing, offers longer-term
economic security and prosperity for the nation.

CRYPTOCURRENCY REGULATIONS IN JAPAN – WORLD’S LARGEST BLOCKCHAIN INDUSTRY

    * Report rights infringement

Cryptocurrency in Japan is considered as a legal tender and accepted widely
as a mode of payment. Japan is the world’s biggest market for Bitcoin and one
of the first countries to regulate cryptocurrencies, exchanges, institutions,
and the funds involved in the business. Japanese Government on Cryptocurrency
Japan has always been on the leading edge of technology development of all
time. And the research brings a major breakthrough to the world in the field
of robotics, high-speed rail, and portable devices. So, it’s not surprising
that cryptocurrency has found such a foothold in the country. Japan found
it’s a new mode of payment in cryptocurrency (specifically Bitcoin).
Moreover, any technology that benefits the economy of Japan, receives
tremendous support from the government. The government has worked with many
tech companies as they are aware of the fact that technologies and inventions
are always profitable for the economy. Recently in January 2020, Japan’s
ruling party lawmakers proposed the idea of issuing Japan’s own digital
currency. However, the finance minister Aso clarified that the central banks
would study the idea positively but at present, the government has no plans
to issue crypto. How the government has Regulated Cryptocurrencies?
Cryptocurrencies in Japan are treated as legal tender and the exchanges are
required to register with the financial service agency. Cryptocurrency has a
good, progressive base in Japan until a series of hacks that took place led
to an urgent national concern. Hence, Japan’s Financial Service Agency(FSA)
stepped in to regulate trading and exchanges. An amendment was passed to the
Payment Service Act which requires the Cryptocurrency Agencies to be
registered with FSA in order to operate. The FSA imposed stricter
requirements under cybersecurity, Anti-money laundering, and Counter Terror
Financing. Japan’s FSA held talks with the exchanges and agreed to form a
self-regulatory body the Japanese Virtual Currency Exchange Association
(JVCEA) which will provide advice to unlicensed exchanges and promote
regulatory compliance. Established in April 2018, JVCEA announced to enforce
stricter regulations for the ‘Hot Wallet’ after the hot wallets were targeted
in the hacks. It became an officially recognized regulatory body on October
24, 2018. In case of the ICO’s, if the ICO’s target the customers in Japan
then they too have to get registered as a Virtual Currency Exchange Provider
TheCrypto Regulations in Japan are getting stronger with the time Taxation
and Mining Government Taxes on Cryptocurrency Japan terms the income from the
cryptocurrency as ‘Miscellaneous Income’. The Japanese National Tax Agency
which looks after the taxations in Japan have released some guidelines on the
Tax treatment on Cryptocurrencies. Interestingly not all the people are
subjected to tax on their cryptocurrency investments as per the guidelines.
The people with more than 200,000 Yen ($1,700) remuneration are subjected to
tax and the income less than the mentioned amount is exempted. However, they
too need to declare their income. In case of gains incurred from
cryptocurrencies, the tax varies from 5% – 45% and an additional 10% is added
to every level as ‘Municipal taxes’. Hence the cryptocurrency owners in Japan
pay the highest tax rate of about 55% on their profits. Crypto Mining in
Japan As said above, Japanese citizens were among the first to start mining.
Japan has attracted more of the crypto miners by its cheap electricity from
geothermal, winds, and hydropower. Many companies have set up mining
businesses with more than 500 servers in Japan. However. The mining business
is still under the process of regulation. LIKE, COMMENT, SUB, TELL YOUR

JAPAN INCREASINGLY TURNING TO BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY

Are we to see Japan take a leadership role in Digital Finance in the same
way it took the lead from America in manufacturing in the 1960/70s? The
huge Japanese financial firm, SBI, has announced its first Digital
security to be issued on a Blockchain platform SBI stating, “The company
considers STOs a “core technology of fintech” and plans to tokenize a
number of other assets in the future. The firm stated that it looks to
tokenize assets like real estate, fine art, and intellectual property
rights including copyrights for games and movies”. Bank of Japan has
published a paper on CBDC, in case they see interest from people in Japan.
The healthcare sector is another industry where the Japanese are looking
to harnessing the power of Blockchain technology. Japan has an ageing
population, therefore placing huge demand on its universal health
coverage (UHC) to look after the elderly and provide long-term care. It
will need to balance the need for care, potentially with a shortage of
health care workers and the difference in access to medical facilities
in rural parts of Japan compared to more urban locations. Medical research
this year claims, “Blockchain technology has the potential to address some
of these challenges, but only if a health blockchain is, designed, localised,
and deployed in a way that is compatible with Japan's centralised
UHC-centric public health system”. Therefore, in view of this, will we see a
decentralised technology being used by a highly centralised healthcare
sector in Japan? Meanwhile, the multinational Japanese ‘heavy weight’ NEC
has just acquired Avaloq, for $2.2 billion. Avaloq is a Swiss FinTech firm
specialising in banking, wealth management and digital payments and has
a great deal of experience in, guess what, Blockchain! Avaloq offers wealth
management tech solutions responsible for $4.9 trillion of assets for
variety of banks, including Agricultural Bank of China, Barclays,
Coutts, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Nomura and Société Générale. NEC is also working
with 8 of Japan’s leading insurance companies to determine how Blockchain
technology can improve processes and has been building a
Blockchain-powered platform for the Tokyo Stock Exchange in order to help
improve efficiency of post-trade operations. People forget Japan is
still the third biggest economy globally. It is fast and smart, with its
citizens having some of the world’s biggest cash piles ready to invest. With
its ageing demography this means that becoming a leader in
digitisation, and not manufacturing, offers longer-term economic
security and prosperity for the nation.

The immense success and the hunger to explore crypto regulations in
different countries ended up in bringing the next chapter of my writing
series, ‘The Cryptocurrency Breakthrough 2020 – Synopsis 9’-
Cryptocurrency Regulations in Japan Japan is one of the world leaders in
the development of the blockchain industry and currently the world’s most
crypto-friendly country. Cryptocurrency in Japan is considered as a
legal tender and accepted widely as a mode of payment. Japan is the world’s
biggest market for Bitcoin and one of the first countries to regulate
cryptocurrencies, exchanges, institutions, and the funds involved in the
business. Japanese Government on Cryptocurrency Japan has always been on
the leading edge of technology development of all time. And the research
brings a major breakthrough to the world in the field of robotics, high-speed
rail, and portable devices. So, it’s not surprising that cryptocurrency
has found such a foothold in the country. Japan found it’s a new mode of
payment in cryptocurrency (specifically Bitcoin). Moreover, any
technology that benefits the economy of Japan, receives tremendous
support from the government. The government has worked with many tech
companies as they are aware of the fact that technologies and inventions
are always profitable for the economy. Recently in January 2020, Japan’s
ruling party lawmakers proposed the idea of issuing Japan’s own digital
currency. However, the finance minister Aso clarified that the central
banks would study the idea positively but at present, the government has
no plans to issue crypto. How the government has Regulated
Cryptocurrencies? Cryptocurrencies in Japan are treated as legal tender
and the exchanges are required to register with the financial service
agency. Cryptocurrency has a good, progressive base in Japan until a
series of hacks that took place led to an urgent national concern. Hence,
Japan’s Financial Service Agency(FSA) stepped in to regulate trading and
exchanges. An amendment was passed to the Payment Service Act which
requires the Cryptocurrency Agencies to be registered with FSA in order
to operate. The FSA imposed stricter requirements under cybersecurity,
Anti-money laundering, and Counter Terror Financing. Japan’s FSA held
talks with the exchanges and agreed to form a self-regulatory body the
Japanese Virtual Currency Exchange Association (JVCEA) which will
provide advice to unlicensed exchanges and promote regulatory
compliance. Established in April 2018, JVCEA announced to enforce stricter
regulations for the ‘Hot Wallet’ after the hot wallets were targeted in
the hacks. It became an officially recognized regulatory body on
October 24, 2018. In case of the ICO’s, if the ICO’s target the customers in
Japan then they too have to get registered as a Virtual Currency Exchange
Provider TheCrypto Regulations in Japan are getting stronger with the time
Taxation and Mining Government Taxes on Cryptocurrency Japan terms the
income from the cryptocurrency as ‘Miscellaneous Income’. The Japanese
National Tax Agency which looks after the taxations in Japan have released
some guidelines on the Tax treatment on Cryptocurrencies. Interestingly
not all the people are subjected to tax on their cryptocurrency
investments as per the guidelines. The people with more than 200,000 Yen
($1,700) remuneration are subjected to tax and the income less than the
mentioned amount is exempted. However, they too need to declare their
income. In case of gains incurred from cryptocurrencies, the tax varies
from 5% – 45% and an additional 10% is added to every level as ‘Municipal
taxes’. Hence the cryptocurrency owners in Japan pay the highest tax rate
of about 55% on their profits. Crypto Mining in Japan As said above, Japanese
citizens were among the first to start mining. Japan has attracted more of
the crypto miners by its cheap electricity from geothermal, winds, and
hydropower. Many companies have set up mining businesses with more than
500 servers in Japan. However. The mining business is still under the
process of regulation. LIKE, COMMENT, SUB, TELL YOUR FRIENDS! Stay Inside

Coordinates: 35°N 136°E / 35°N 136°E / 35; 136
