are vital to the effective operation of our merchant fleet for both commercial
and military transport during war and peace.

About the Academy

We are a federal service academy that educates leaders of exemplary character
who are inspired to serve the national security, marine transportation, and
economic needs of the United States as licensed Merchant Marine Officers and
commissioned officers in the Armed Forces.

About The USMMA Athletics Program

The athletic program offers 27 varsity team and intramural sports. These teams
have been successful at levels ranging from NCAA Division III National Champions
to Conference Champions.

SEA YEAR TRAINING

Every USMMA graduate completes over 300 days at sea, working aboard Commercial,
Passenger, or Military vessels actively engaged in global operations.
