THE NEXT EPISODE OF HITHER CAME CONAN

I was able to take two items off the list today.

First, I finished up editing a podcast episode for a client and got that sent
out last night.

That left me free to move forward on the next episode of Hither Came Conan in
which I'm talking about Conan the Barbarian #7 from Heroic Signatures and Titan
Comics.



Issue 7 hit shelves today, and while I've been thinking about holding on to each
of the Titan issues and waiting to release the episodes once a story arc is
complete, since we're currently in the middle of an arc, if I go that route,
I'll wait until the next arc begins with issue #9.

Issue 8 is showing on ComiXology as scheduled for release on February 28, but
we'll see. Today's issue was originally supposed to release on January 24, was
pushed back to January 31, and then instead released today.

Regardless, I recorded the Titan Conan the Barbarian #7 episode this morning,
and I'll release it, early and ad free, for First Level Members and above here
on The Super Secret Steeven Society on Friday (2/9), and then it will go up on
the Main Feed/YouTube Channel on Monday (2/12).

I'll be recording the Dark Horse Conan #2 episode either tomorrow morning or
Friday morning, then have the weekend to edit it for release for Second Level
Members and above here on The Super Secret Steeven Society on Monday (2/12).


ADDED TO THE LIST

I've added to the To-Do list the task of putting the notes together for the Dark
Horse Conan #3 episode with a goal of having those completed by the end of the
day Friday (2/9), and the goal, or the hope, at this point is to try and record
that Monday morning (2/12) to then release for Second Level Members and above
here on The Super Secret Steeven Society on Wednesday (2/14).

If I can do that, then I can also try and have the notes for Conan #4 written up
in time to record that episode on Friday next week (2/16) to release here on
Monday the following week (2/19), which will put me back on schedule to have the
episodes for the first 5 of those Dark Horse Conan issues released here on The
Super Secret Steeven Society, for Second Level Members and above.

Speaking of which, I've also added a task to record a test episode to release
here on Monday.

The purpose is to see what happens when I release the test episode for Second
Level Members and above, then, later in the week, I edit the post to release it
First Level Members and above.

See, with these Dark Horse Conan episodes I'm releasing, I want to be able to
make them available to First Level Members the Friday before they release on the
Main Feed/YouTube Channel.

I need to know if I'll have to upload and post a new version, or if the original
one I post can be moved among Tiers and still trigger an email and show up on
the individual private RSS feed.

CONAN #2 EPISODE PUSHED BACK

I didn't record anything this morning.

My updated To-Do list is below, and while you can see that I was able to finish
up the notes for the Dark Horse Conan #2 episode of Hither Came Conan, I wasn't
able to record the episode this morning.

Here's the thing, the best time for me to record episodes are in the morning
before work, and that's due to three reasons.

REASON #1: EARLY BIRD

I work from home, and before my work day begins, I get up three hours early (or
more) to take my kids to school/work. By the time I'm back, I have an hour to an
hour-and-a-half to myself.

REASON #2: GETTING THAT WORM

I am at my most productive during the first 4 hours of my morning. I mean, it
takes me 30 minutes to an hour to begin to feel productive, but that's time I
spend getting ready to run my kids to school/work, and then, of course, getting
them there.

By the time I'm back home, I'm ready to get... shit... DONE!

REASON #3: HOME ALONE

I'm married with three kids and two of those kids are still living at home... my
girls. In the mornings, typically, one of the girls is at school and the other
is at work.

My wife sleeps in.

So, during that period of time between when I get home from taking the girls to
school/work and the time my work day begins, I'm pretty much alone in the house.

After work, in the evenings, both girls are home and my wife is, of course, up.
In other words, it's busy and fairly noisy up in here.

See, the four of us live in a small house and I'm not lucky enough to have a
room I can go into, close the door, and record. Which means I'm out here in the
middle of everything.

So yeah, that's why I record in the morning.

The reason I'm telling you all this is that this morning I forgot that the older
of my two girls, the one I take to work every morning, the one who typically has
to be to work two hours before my work day begins, well, she had a late start
time today. 

In fact, she's here now, just 20 feet away, watching the TV.

No recording for me this morning.

Which is why I think it might be best to push the Dark Horse Conan #2 episode of
Hither Came Conan to next week. With that in mind, I've updated the To-Do list
accordingly:

With that decision made, I've been spending some time this morning with a bit of
podcast maintenance. 


HITHER CAME CONAN URL & UPDATED EMAIL ADDRESS

First, I don't know if I've mentioned this yet, but I finally took the plunge
and grabbed up the URL: www.hithercameconan.com 

Currently I have it pointing to a Linktree for the podcast, primarily because
the first thing you see there is a way to listen to Hither Came Conan on the app
of your choice.



However, now that I have hithercameconan.com, I have set up an email address
just for the podcast: feedback@hithercameconan.com, and so I'm going through and
updating the show notes on the feed, as well as the main site
(conan.steevenorrelse.com - link is on the Linktree as well).


UPDATED HITHER CAME CONAN ARTWORK INFO

So, I've put together some new artwork for the podcast.

Well, I've been going back and forth on which one I wanted to use.

Should I use LONE CONAN:



Or should I use THE THREE CONANS:



In the end I decided to use both.

In other words, LONE CONAN is being used as the cover art for the podcast as a
whole, while THE THREE CONANS will be used as the covert art for the individual
episodes.

Depending on which podcasting app you use, you will start seeing these changes
over the next few days.

The First Dark Horse Conan Episode Has Been Recorded!

I'm really happy and excited to announce that the first Hither Came Conan Dark
Horse episode has been recorded and is on track to release, here, on Monday.

I'll start editing the episode soon, but the raw audio clocks in at 56 minutes
and 37 seconds, meaning that it's probably going to be about 45 minutes long by
the time I'm done.

As a reminder, these bonus episodes will be available to Second Level Members
and above.



Next up, I have my advance copy of Conan the Barbarian #7 from Titan Comics and
I'm going to get it read today so that I can spend the weekend putting the notes
together for that episode. That way I can record Monday morning and have it
ready to land here, for all paying members, on Wednesday, then it will go to the
Main Feed and the YouTube Channel on Friday (2/2).

I tell you what folks, I really wrestled with the idea of taking the next four
weeks off from releasing episodes on the Main Feed/YouTube Channel so that I
could focus on recording these Dark Horse episodes for Second Level Society
Members, but now that it's been announced and I'm committed, I'm glad I did it.
I don't think these Dark Horse episodes would have gotten done otherwise. At
least, not as bonus episodes.

Monday rather than every Friday.

This means that the next episode of Hither Came Conan will drop on Monday,
January 22.

It will be available here for First Level Members and above on Friday, January
19, but won't be available to the public until the following Monday.

This, I believe, will give me more time to actually work on the episodes since I
don't end up doing a lot of podcasting on the weekends.

This head cold or sinus thing I got going on kept me in bed the last two days.

The plan at this point is to release the episode tonight or tomorrow morning.

Podcasting While Sick

Over this last holiday weekend, as 2023 was turning into 2024, I was dealing
with a wicked head cold.

Then, a few days later, I wasn't.

This week however, it is back in a big way.

My entire head feels like it's full of lead, I can only breath from one nostril
at a time, and every other inch of me is incredibly fatigued.

With that said, I still managed to record this week's episode of Hither Came
Conan and, while I haven't started the editing process, I'm fairly confident
that I can still have it ready for release by Friday.

In fact, I'm hoping to have it up here for First Level Members and above, by
tomorrow night (Thursday).

But here's the thing... Because I haven't started editing, I haven't had a
chance to really listen to what I have, and frankly, I'm worried that I'm going
to sound just like I feel. I mean, I'm worried about it, but I'm not REALLY
worried about it.

What will be interesting will be to see how long the final, edited episode will
clock in at because I recorded and hour and thirty-two minutes of audio. Though,
if you want be to guess, I'm betting that I end up cutting out at least 45
minutes of pure crap.

Should be fun to find out.

But, yeah. I'm going to bed now.

No Hither Came Conan Christmas Week

I'm going to go ahead and call it now.

There will be no new episode of Hither Came Conan during the week of Christmas.

Probably.

I mean, as of now I have nothing ready, and honestly, I'm not sure which type of
episode to work on because just this past Friday, as I was getting my notes
started to do an episode about Conan the Barbarian #6 from Titan Comics, Jim Zub
announced the following:

"Human error" has caused a distribution delay on the release of Conan the
Barbarian #6.

Our new-new release date is January 3rd, 2024.

Apologies, Hyborians. I absolutely want this issue in your hands as soon as
possible. 



So I figured I'd better start putting together notes for an episode talking
about the next Marvel issue, Conan the Barbarian #23, but, as of now, as of this
moment in time, as we scramble to get ready for Christmas morning, I have no
energy whatsoever, creative or otherwise.

Now, it's certainly possible that once Christmas is over that, maybe, I might be
able to get something going before Friday. 

But I doubt it.

And so, on Christmas Eve, I'm letting all of you know that there will be no
Hither Came Conan on Friday.
