The name Arch Collaborative was intentional. The entire goal of the
Collaborative is to bring people together to talk about what leads to high EHR
Satisfaction and to share best practices with each other. KLAS will be spending
the next two days alongside over 60 health systems and over 15 vendors/firms
discussing these best practices. What are health systems doing? How are they
partnering together? What role can vendors/firms play in improving this
experience? Welcome to the Learning Summit!

Breakout Session: Evolving the Training Paradigm
Little America Hotel, Wyoming - Level 1

Presented by MultiCare Health System & Divurgent

Learning Objectives:

 1. Glean how the challenges of the past three years have impacted training
 2. Understand opportunities in virtualization, curriculum development,
scheduling, staffing, and technology can help to evolve the training
    paradigm
 3. Learn to apply these lessons to your own situation and continue the dialogue

Covid 19 has led to unprecedented challenges in the delivery of health care. The
global pandemic combined with record staff burnout and turnover, rising use of
agency nursing and continuing merger and acquisition activity have forced
training into a highly reactive position. Training pivoted from a traditional
classroom model to utilizing off the shelf web-conferencing software not ideal
for teaching classes. This led to lower levels of satisfaction with training for
Go-Lives as well as new hire and ongoing training for mature systems.
Furthermore, gaps in training resulted in increased dependence on at-the-elbow
support and on-the-job training.

Data from KLAS reveals that training remains of paramount importance, and it is
key to provider and nurse EHR satisfaction. Furthermore, ineffective training is
a predictor of burnout and turnover. We propose moving from the current reactive
stance to a more proactive posture. We believe that there are opportunities in
virtualization, curriculum development, scheduling, staffing and technology that
can result in new training models to be more convenient, engaging and targeted.
Learning Experience Platforms (LXPs), Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) and
microlearnings are being used in verticals outside of healthcare.  Virtual
Reality is gaining traction in the training space and we are working with
partners to develop an omnipresent floating toolbar alongside the EHR to provide
context aware support and training.

MultiCare and Divurgent have partnered through the pandemic to react to rapidly
changing institutional needs. We are now collaborating to introduce new training
processes and technologies to benefit our people.

Breakout Session: How to Demonstrate the Value of a Clinical Informatics Program
Little America Hotel, Idaho - Level 1

Presented by Cottage Health & The Chartis Group

The current fiscal environment and challenges facing healthcare organizations
dictate that if a program and/or individual is not adding value, they must be
re-evaluated for continuation. However, cost alone does not constitute a reason
for cessation. Capturing the value of an investment to both justify the initial
costs as well as continual right sizing of the investment for greater benefit is
essential. Clinical informatics programs play a critical role in tracking,
measuring, capturing and communicating the value that is essential to
substantiate healthcare’s investment in technology (and can contribute to
enhancing clinician experience).

General Session: Clinician Staffing/Turnover Panel
Little America Hotel, Ballroom A&B - Level 1

Health systems across the country have been plagued by elevated burnout rates
and staffing concerns. KLAS has validated strong relationships between EHR
efficiency, clinician burnout, and anticipated turnover. In this session, we
will discuss what healthcare organizations can do to alleviate stress and retain
their clinician workforce. Please join the discussion with Dr. Laura Zimmerman
from Rush University, Dr. Pat Patton, Chief Nurse Executive at UCSF Health, and
Dr. Steven Martel, Associate Chief Health Information Officer at CHOC.

General Session: Tools for Patient Centered-Care Panel
Little America Hotel, Ballroom A&B - Level 1

Research shows that when healthcare organizations use a patient-centered care
approach, enabling patients to play an active role in their own care, they feel
empowered, have higher rates of satisfaction, and results improve. Joining us
for today’s panel discussion, hosted by KLAS Research, are Danielle Sims from
Ochsner Health, Kirsten Davidson from Royal Children’s Hospital, and Dr. Lacy A.
Knight from Piedmont Healthcare.
