The University of Western England (UWE) had the latter experience. Working with Actian Professional Services, UWE updated from Ingres 10.2 to Actian X 11.1 with no interruptions. It also simultaneously migrated from its aging Solaris UNIX infrastructure to the Linux infrastructure to support a majority of the university’s critical systems, including a custom-built student records system with data from more than 30,000 students. Running the student record system on Actian X and Linux has increased application performance for users.
