NICE TO MEET YOU, I’M GWEN.

I’m a birth doula, an artist, a learner, and a gardener. I'm so glad that you're
considering hiring a doula, and I would be honored to witness and support your
birth.


MY BIRTH PHILOSOPHY

BIRTH IS BIG. YOU ARE BIGGER.

Often we dread big, intense things (like birth) because we don’t think that we
will be able to match their intensity or keep up with the transformation they
will require of us. It’s normal and natural to feel overwhelmed at the prospect
of childbirth, but I believe that you can have an empowering, positive birth
experience. I believe in the power of choice, and I will help you prepare to
make the choices about birth that will be right for you so that you can come
away from birth feeling capable and strong. An empowered birth experience can
bring partners together and help both of you prepare for connection in
parenthood. Whether childbirth is your favorite thing or something that feels
unescapable and scary, I would love to support you.

WHAT IS A DOULA?

A doula is a professional support person for labor and birth. Doulas help their
clients know their options, decide what feels best for them, and then support
their decisions through labor and birth. In birth, doulas support birthing
people with breath, touch, ideas and options, and our sustained presence to keep
birthing people feeling safe. Another important part of a doula’s job is to
protect consent in the birth space. Doulas are hired independently by a birthing
person, so our responsibility is directly to you rather than to a hospital,
doctor, or midwife. We are not medical professionals, but we are professional
guides through your specific birth journey.

 


SERVING UTAH, SALT LAKE, AND WASATCH COUNTIES

I’m located in Provo, UT, and will support births up to an hour away. Wondering
