WHAT IS A BIOS?

BIOS, the basic input/output system, is a piece of software built into the PC
motherboard, which gets executed at bootup. The BIOS initializes the hardware
and then starts the operating system. (Windows, Linux). Extensible Firmware
Interface (EFI), the successor of BIOS, resolves many PC BIOS limitations and is
rapidly becoming more widely used.
