Photo: Delta Air Lines SUMMARY * Delta and LATAM are the official airlines of Copa América 2024, anticipating strong demand and offering enhanced connectivity options. * LATAM is providing exclusive promotions with enhanced lounge facilities at some locations. * The Delta-LATAM partnership, launched in 2022, has already resulted in new route options for passengers between South and North America. With the Copa América 2024 soccer tournament starting later this month in the US, airlines are also anticipating a spike in demand for the various venues of the games. Delta and LATAM are also joining forces by becoming the official airlines of the event, with LATAM even offering exclusive promotions in some of the destinations hosting the matches. OFFICIAL AIRLINES OF COPA AMÉRICA 2024 Delta Air Lines and LATAM Group have announced that they are the official airlines of the Copa América 2024 international soccer tournament. The event will be held across the United States from June 20 to July 14. Photo: Robin Guess | Shutterstock With both airlines anticipating strong demand from fans and spectators, they are looking to provide ample connectivity options in the coming weeks. Constanza Pizarro, Corporate Communications Manager of Latam Airlines Group, commented, > “In less than a month, athletes and attendees from different countries of the > continent will travel to compete and enjoy this great sporting event, so good > air connectivity is essential for the success of this tournament. For this > reason, this announcement is perfectly complemented by the Joint Venture > between LATAM and Delta because it will demonstrate that together it is > possible to contribute to greater and better connectivity between South and > North America.” LATAM TO OFFER EXCLUSIVE PROMOTIONS The LATAM Group has also revealed plans for special promotions at some of the tournament's destinations. It will also offer ticket raffles to some of its most loyal customers, giving them a chance to attend the event. Photo: Tobias Arhelger | Shutterstock The airline group will also enhance the lounge experience for its soccer fans by transforming its facilities in the region and offering giant screens to watch the tournament. It will provide comfortable spaces, cocktails, food, and WiFi, among other things. DELTA-LATAM PARTNERSHIP Delta and LATAM launched their joint venture in 2022. The partnership was approved in September of that year by the United States Department of Transportation, and they were given six months to implement it. However, the two airlines didn’t waste any time and launched it in November itself. The agreement covers more than 300 destinations, and since launching the joint venture, several new destinations have been added, such as the following: * Bogota-Orlando (LATAM) * Los Angeles-Sao Paulo (LATAM) * New York JFK-Rio de Janeiro (Delta) * Atlanta-Cartagena (Delta) * Lima-Atlanta #2 (LATAM’s first route to Delta’s ATL hub) * Santiago-Orlando (LATAM, seasonal) * Santiago – Atlanta #2 (Delta, seasonal) Photo: Markus Mainka | Shutterstock The partnership has opened several new options for passengers of both airlines. Delta passengers now have easier access to cities like Cusco, Peru, and Montevideo, Uruguay, via LATAM’s hubs. LATAM travelers can also conveniently fly access to over 200 US cities through Delta’s hubs. The partnership also lets passengers earn and redeem miles across both airlines, further enhancing the value of the joint venture.
