Note that you'll need to do this separately for each browser you use for the
biggest impact, you should opt out of all the other platforms as well. You'll
notice Facebook advertising targeting is on the list of entries-tick the Opt Out
box to do just that. More broadly, you can stop some of the web activity being
used to target you with ads by visiting the YourAdChoices site run by the
Digital Advertising Alliance. If that data can be added to a Facebook profile so
much the better for Facebook, but the social network can still use in general
terms to analyze aggregated user behavior. Site owners are able to build up a
profile of who is visiting their pages, and Facebook collects even more data
about what people are shopping for and looking at on the web. A vast number of
third parties are using Facebook's advertising and tracking technologies, which
means it isn't just Facebook you need to worry about. Tracking tools like the
Facebook Pixel enable websites and online retailers to get information about
their visitors, including whether they come back. This off-Facebook activity is
also monitored whether or not you have a Facebook account. If you're shopping
for shoes on a third-party retail site, you won't suddenly see ads for them all
over your News Feed. It also still doesn't affect how much data Facebook
actually collects, it just breaks the association between what you do on
Facebook and off it. It's a more comprehensive solution, but still not widely
available. This activity has attracted enough bad press that Facebook announced
a tool in August called "Off-Facebook Activity" that will disconnect this data
from what you actually do on Facebook. It has partnerships with a whole host of
marketing firms and ad networks so that activities on other sites-including but

marketing partners-and there are an awful lot of them-to put more relevant
advertising in front of you.

The social network behemoth says it uses your data to show relevant ads and keep
you safe if someone signs into your account from a country you're not usually
in, for instance, Facebook can flag the activity as suspicious. How hard you
want to pull back depends to a certain extent on how much you trust Facebook.
Fortunately, there are numerous ways to limit the volume of data that it logs.
But Facebook has ways of keeping tabs on people who aren't even signed up for

want to take advantage of its features, then you have to give up a certain

other websites and services, into the various apps you're using on your phone,

FACEBOOK SESSION EXPIRED SEPTEMBER 28 2018

The virtual whiteboard passes along information about his doodling habits to
advertising technology (AdTech) and other companies when Rodin’s math class is
over, trackers follow him outside of his virtual classroom and to the different
apps and sites he visits across the internet. Within milliseconds of Rodin
logging into class in the morning, his school’s online learning platform begins
tracking Rodin’s physical location-at home in his family’s living room, where he
has spent most of his days during the pandemic lockdown. Unbeknownst to him, an
invisible swarm of tracking technologies surveil Rodin’s online interactions
throughout his day.

At the end of each day, he posts a picture of his homework to his teacher’s
social media page. Later in the afternoon, Rodin opens up a website to watch the
nationally televised math class for that day. He watches his best friend draw a
cat he thinks his friend is much better at drawing than he is. He hopes that no
one can tell that he’s a little sleepy, or that he’s behind on his
homework.ĭuring breaks between classes, Rodin reads chat messages from his
classmates and idly doodles on the virtual whiteboard that his teacher leaves

SUPERTUXKART OPENGL 2.1

We should probably have an option in Mesa to make this kind of under-the-hood
compatibility translations more obvious to users so we can catch silly issues
like this more easily.

Indeed, with that change SuperTuxKart now plays smooth on OpenGL too, with
framerates always above 30 fps and up to 110 fps depending on the track. The
Vulkan driver was exposing support for this already, which explains the dramatic
difference in performance between both drivers. The hardware does support 16-bit
floating point vertex attributes though, so this was very easy to fix. In
particular, SuperTuxKart uses rgba16f and rg16f with some vertex buffers and
Mesa was silently translating these to 32-bit counterparts because the GL driver
was not advertising support for the 16-bit variants. While this is great for
compatibility it is obviously going to be very slow. The game was clearly
hitting a very bad path in the GL driver so I had to fix that before I could
make a fair comparison between both.Ī perf session quickly pointed me to the
issue: Mesa has code to transparently translate vertex attribute formats that
are not natively supported to a supported format. I was then naturally
interested in comparing this to the GL renderer and I was a bit surprised to see
that, with the same settings, the GL renderer would be somewhere in the 8-20 fps
range for the same tracks. I think the game might be able to produce more than
110 fps actually, since various tracks were able to reach exactly 110 fps I
think the limiting factor here was the display. In my tests, even with a debug
build of Mesa I saw the FPS ranging from 60 to 110 depending on the track.

The short story is that while I have only tested a few tracks it seems to
perform really well overall. The latest SuperTuxKart release comes with an
experimental Vulkan renderer and I was eager to check it out on my Raspbery Pi 4
and see how well it worked.

MAGICAL AUTO TEXT EXPANDER

AHK is open-source and is basically a free scripting language that can do, well,
basically anything. Unlike Phrase Express, it is not cross-platform, which is
unfortunate, because it’s extremely powerful. Auto HotkeyĪuto Hotkey is one of
the more popular text expanders for Windows. Pricing ranges from about $50 to
about $200, one-time fees for lifetime licenses, with additional costs for
“maintenance”, which includes program updates. In addition to a free limited
version, they have three versions licensed for commercial use with escalating
ranges of features.

One of their more clever features is the ability to translate entire phrase
trees into different languages for cross-language work. In addition to a huge
array of snippets, you can sync snippets across platforms and even share them
with team members. Phrase Express is one of the more robust entries on this
list, with a ton of features that make it great for personal and for business
use. That’s why I’ve put together this list fifteen different options for text
expansion apps you can use to put those clever hacks into use. Textexpander is a
good app, but it’s not the right choice for everyone and every purpose. Many
people also use preconfigured text blocks to insert things like your name,
address, and phone number, turning a full NAP block into something as simple as
typing and hitting Enter. Higher tier usage allows you to use common commands to
add symbols you’d otherwise need to look up and copy-paste into a document. They
all have varying capabilities and pricing levels, but they all do basically the
same thing they allow you to type a short word or key-phrase and have it
automatically replaced with a full block of text.Īt the most basic level you
have an autocorrect feature that capitalizes words and acronyms for you.
Textexpander is one of many text replacement tools available on the web. To
perform math calculations, enter the digits inside ] double brackets.Elsewhere
on this site, I covered a variety of different hacks and tricks you can
implement using a tool like Textexpander. Other options include date/time macros
and omnibox (address bar where you enter website URL) support, and clipboard
macros. So, when you enter (, ProKeys will enter the other ending bracket
automatically and place your cursor right in the middle. You can also use it to
enter special characters. You install the extension and customize it to create
all your keyboard shortcuts for email IDs, frequently used phrases, signatures,
and so on. Think mathematical calculations irrespective of the page you are on
or app you are using in the Chrome browser. ProKeys will take things to the next
level. We then saw how you can use it with macros and HTML to increase
efficiency and do even more within the browser. Text Expanders are cool but why
limit their functionality to keyboard shortcuts? First, we saw how text
expanders can be used to type faster as keyboard shortcuts for frequently used
texts. Or when you type /sig, it will enter your entire signature. Text Blaze
works blazing fast, to be honest, and makes a satisfying noise when a shortcut
is expanded to inputted text. Makes sense so when you type BRB, it remains that
way but when you type /BRB, it expands to something like ‘Be Right Back’. Text
Blaze needs you to enter / (slash) before each keyboard shortcut to make it
work. This eliminates the need for manual backups.

Text Blaze will require you to create an account (or sign in using Google)
before you can use its awesome text expander service. There is also support for
text to HTML and macros. I suggest you save shortcuts somewhere safer. You can
back up but it will be deleted the moment you log out of your Chrome account.
The developer will let you download a copy of your keyboard shortcuts in JSON
format and claims that no data ever leaves your browser. Auto Text Expander also
recognizes markup and markdown so you can use to insert text that is bold,
italic, and so on.
