Emma Raducanu has sent a new message to tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios after she
publicly supported him at Wimbledon 2022.

Kyrgios, who finished as runner-up to Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles, is a
controversial figure has faced criticism for for his antics on and off the
court.

During this year’s Championships, the fiery Australian called a line judge a
‘snitch’, spat towards a spectator, faced jeers for an underarm serve, broke
Wimbledon’s dress code and was branded an ‘evil bully’ by world No.4 Stefanos
Tsitsipas.

He is also facing an assault charge for an alleged incident with his
ex-girlfriend Chiara Passari, which is said to have occurred in December 2021.

Kyrgios has received support from some players, with men’s doubles champion Max
Purcell pointing towards his charity work through the NK Foundation and the
27-year-old also recently opening up about his mental health struggles.

British No.1 Raducanu appeared to show her public support for Kyrgios during the
tournament by tweeting his initials alongside a magic wand emoji, to which he
replied: ‘Appreciate the support!’

The 19-year-old world No.10 has now spoken out about the tweet and the reason
behind why she posted it.

‘To me, he’s always been very kind and generous,’ Raducanu told the Evening
Standard.

‘He was supporting me after Wimbledon last year, before the US Open, so the way
he’s been with me, yeah, he’s been really nice. People definitely want to watch
Nick.’

Kyrgios is set to earn millions from an upcoming Netflix documentary about his
run to the Wimbledon final.

Raducanu, meanwhile, will be looking to reach her second-ever Grand Slam final
when she heads to New York next month to defend her US Open crown.

She is set to team up with Russian coach Dmitry Tursunov ahead of Flushing
Meadows, who will likely succeed Torben Beltz as her new permanent coach.
