"You're still a genocide denier." Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur
on the occupied Palestinian territories, criticised British Foreign Secretary
David Lammy for refusing to label the Israeli war on Gaza as genocide during his
address in the UK Parliament last month. Albanese clarified what constitutes
genocide, underlining that it is not defined by the number of casualties. She
said that genocide should be prevented, posing a direct question to the UK and
Mr Lammy: What actions has the UK taken to prevent genocide, and how would they
describe the total destruction of Gaza?

The US provides Israel with $3.8 billion dollars in military aid annually and
has helped Israel build one of the strongest militaries in the world. The US is
also by far the biggest supplier of arms to the US . If the US placed an
immediate weapons embargo on Israel, like they did in apartheid South Africa,
would Israel have the capacity to keep bombing Gaza indiscriminately?

‘There are no journalists in Gaza’ - London protestors react to David Lammy
claims. British Foreign Secretary David Lammy has been blasted for saying “there
are no journalists in Gaza” at a meeting in parliament on Wednesday. Lammy was
asked by fellow Labour MP Matthew Patrick at a House of Commons foreign affairs
committee meeting about his assessment "of the nature of the conflict" in Gaza
and "how that impinges on getting aid in”. MEE’s Mohammad Saleh went on the
ground to the UK’s National March for Palestine on Saturday, to ask protesters
what they thought of the Foreign Secretary’s comments. Journalists from around
the world condemned the British foreign secretary for appearing to erase the
work and suffering of Palestinian journalists - at least 127 of whom have been
killed during the course of Israel’s war on Gaza, according to the Committee to
Protect Journalists.

Doctor who volunteered in Gaza tells UN: ‘Palestinians don’t need our pity’
“Palestinians don't need our pity. They don't need our praise. They need our
meaningful and truthful solidarity.” Tanya Haj Hassan, a paediatric intensive
care doctor who addressed UN member states on the 2024 International Day of
Solidarity with the Palestinian People on Tuesday, shared the harrowing
realities faced by Palestinians in Gaza. Hassan conveyed witness accounts and
stories from Palestinian healthcare workers, urging the world to listen to their
experiences, move beyond pity and offer meaningful solidarity.

At least 1,000 protestors from various pro-Palestine activist movements
blockaded the UK Foreign Office and Department of Business and Trade in London
on Thursday, marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian
People. The protestors demanded the government impose an arms embargo on Israel
and arrest Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he comes to Britain, in
line with the warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) last
week.

Israel-Lebanon ceasefire to take effect at 4am local time on Wednesday says
Biden US President Joe Biden has announced a ceasefire deal between Israel and
Lebanon that he indicated has already been accepted by the Israeli and Lebanese
cabinets - the only two entities the US will negotiate with. The ceasefire will
go into effect at 4am local time in the region, or 2am GMT. Biden took credit
for securing the deal and thanked French President Emmanual Macron for also
ushering it through. The ceasefire is "permanent", Biden said, and Israel will
have to withdraw its forces from Lebanon within 60 days.

How did Israel and Hezbollah reach a ceasefire agreement over Lebanon? The
reaction to the cessation of Israeli attacks in Lebanon has been one of relief.
Over 1 million people displaced in Lebanon were able to return to their
hometowns, mostly in the south. The Israeli response has been more varied.
Israeli officials and ministers have called the ceasefire unnecessary, labelling
it a ‘historic mistake’.

“We want the politicians of this country to do their job and end this genocide.”
Canadian healthcare workers have accused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s
government of being complicit in genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.“ A year
later, now we are live-streaming Ghazzawis’ worst nightmare, where we and
Ghazzawis had faith in international humanitarian law. Instead, we found the
Canadian government's complicity,” said Dr Ben Thomson, speaking at a news
conference on Tuesday at Parliament Hill in Canada.

Would UK Police arrest Israel’s Netanyahu, and former Defence Minister, Gallant,
if they entered the UK? We went to New Scotland Yard, the headquarters of the
Metropolitan Police in London, to see if we could get a direct answer from the
Police. We also spoke to demonstrators outside the UK’s Houses of Parliament,
calling for the UK to ‘Stop arming Israel’s Genocide in Gaza’. The International
Criminal Court (ICC) on, Thursday last week, issued arrest warrants for Israeli
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defence minister Yoav Gallant, over
war crimes and crimes against humanity committed since 7 October last year. The
ICC also issued a warrant for Mohammed Ibrahim al-Masri, the Hamas military
chief better known as Mohammed Deif, despite Israeli claims that he was killed
in Gaza.

Rabbi Yitzchock Deutsch voices support for ICC arrest warrants for Israeli
leaders. “This is a great day for humanity while the world is waking up to the
Zionist crimes.” Rabbi Yitzchok Deutsch voiced his support for the ICC arrest
warrants issued against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former
Defence Minister Yoav Gallant in response to Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza. He
added: “Every righteous person has a duty to stand up and to say no to this
genocide, especially, we as Jewish people. While they are hiding in our
religion, they hijack our identity to justify all these crimes.”

US 'rejects' ICC arrest warrants for Israeli officials. The US said it had
"different opinions" on arrest warrants issued for Israel's Prime Minister
Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Gallant by the International Criminal
Court on Thursday. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said she
disagreed with the "process" the ICC had pursued in issuing the warrants, but
did not comment on the substance of the allegations. "We don't see eye to eye on
where the ICC is." In a Thursday briefing, the Pentagon press secretary was
asked whether defending the rules-based order includes adhering to the
International Criminal Court's arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant. She replied that
the US "fundamentally rejects" the arrest warrants although did not offer a
legal explanation as to why.
