BITTERSWEET

Bittersweet.

This word always sums up my emotions as I leave Chicago for Texas and later
leaving Texas for Chicago. At times, I feel like I am leading two separate lives
955 miles apart. The thought always crosses my mind of how wonderful it would be
to have those lives intersect and have all the people I love in one place.
Whatever place that would be would be my home.

But in times of transition I am reminded I am not home. Texas is not my home.
Chicago is not my home. In actuality, I have no home on this earth. ("Foxes have
holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay
his head." Luke 9:58) My true home is in heaven. I experience pieces of that
here on this Earth, but not in its complete fullness as I will one day. I have
the promise of a heavenly home with my perfect Father.

I am thankful for this promise.

I am thankful for the bittersweet feeling because it reminds me of something
bigger.

I am thankful that my identity is a daughter of God and not defined by the
people I am surrounded by and the location I am in.

I am thankful that although my location and situation changes, I serve an
unchanging God who is with me wherever I go.

I am thankful that He is teaching me about the family of God.

I am thankful that Christ has placed an abundance of incredible people that love
and encourage me in my life.

Sometimes I become truly overwhelmed with how blessed my life is. My prayer is
that I can pour out those blessings to others.

DIARY OF SELAH: CREEPY CRAWLER

I be creepin. Creepin at midnight, creepin at 2am. Shoot, sometimes I like to
creep around all night. My parents have started calling me creepy crawler or
creepy PAWler. Sometimes I freak them out when I creep into their bedroom late
at night and stare at them, then when they wake up I creep my way on out making
the wood floors creak. I don't mean to scare them, it's just that sometimes I
get bored. Restless. I just wish they would wake up to play.

Simmerin Down,

Selah

OPERATION: LOSE THAT BABY WEIGHT!

I love the start of a new year. I enjoy reflecting back on the past year and
making new resolutions for the year ahead. I can't say I am the best at keeping
those resolutions. In fact, thinking back, I am not sure I have kept a single
one.

Whoops.

Regardless, Scott and I sat down at Starbucks and made a list of spiritual,
physical, and relational goals we have this year. Perhaps blogging about our
goals will help keep us on track. (But then again, I am a very inconsistent
blogger...) Well here's to a new year anyway!

Our Physical Goal= Operation: Lose that Baby Weight!
Scott and I both packed on some pounds over my pregnancy with perfect little
Brooklyn Elaine. And I must say she was worth every ounce. Buuttttt, our eating
habits were getting slightly (ok way) out of control. Neither one of us have
been exercising, so we found ourselves with a few or not so few pounds to shed!

So, with the start of the new year became the start of a new healthy life style.
We are taking it one step at a time, so far we have changed our eating habits
around. Next up: exercise.

Our Daily Meal Plan looks a little something like this:

Breakfast: Peanut Butter & Banana Toast
MidMorning Snack: An Apple
Lunch: Sandwich, Grapes, A Few SunChips
Afternoon Snack: A Cheese Stick
Dinner: Varies (I'm looking for new, easy health recipes)
Drink: Only Water & Lowfat Milk

I can say that just after a week and a half, we both feel much better! Here's to
a new year & fitting into this cute swimsuit I ordered a size too small for
motivation!

TOP 12 IN 2012!

2012 will go down in the books as being one of my very favorites!

Here's why:

1. We found out we were pregnant!
2. We moved into our house.
3. I went on a week long trip with my friends to the beach.
4. Scott and I had a weekend trip away from the city.
5. We were blessed with two new nephews.
6. The birth of our precious Brooklyn girl.
7. I had a wonderful shower with friends and family.
8. I became a stay at home mom.
9. I completed two more semesters of school.
10. I witnessed more of God's faithfulness through Mosaic.
11. Brooklyn & I spent a whole month in Texas.
12. Scott was kissed by a homeless man.

God has been so good & faithful to us. When I reflect upon this year I will
always be filled with joy.

ONE MONTH

Brooklyn is one month old!

Some of her favorite things include: her pacifier, looking at the blinds, the
sound of the vacuum cleaner, looking at the couch, her butterfly rattle, her
mom's singing (the only person in the world that appreciates this) and dancing
with daddy.

Some of her nicknames are: Brooklyn Bear, Gizmo, The Giz, and Sweet Cheeks

Things we love about her: her stretches when she wakes up, her sweet cuddles,
her little mullet, her EVERYTHING

INTRODUCING BROOKLYN ELAINE

Meet Brooklyn Elaine Venable.
She was born September 13
weighed 7 lbs 1 oz
19 1/2 in long
We are absolutely in love with this amazing gift.
I am so very thankful God has chosen me to be this sweet baby's mother.
My heart is completely overwhelmed with love each day.
Thank you Lord for answering all of our prayers through our pregnancy, delivery,
and new journey together now. We are excited to see what you have in store for
our baby girl!
