YOU DID A BAD JOB WITH ME, GOD

25y/o 🇹🇩 third culture kid back in my passport country because i could afford
the student loans. because I get a lot of harassment, I will not turn on anon,
but I will respect your wish to remain private if you still want to send an ask
and you let me know (assuming you respect me) gaymer. He/him only. On this page
you'll find leftist politics, good vibes, my opinions that no one asked for,
high art shitposting, and all my top-tier interests. I'm also an atheist, a
theater kid, and a furry so if you can't handle that without resorting to
harassment I suggest you go steal some middle schooler's lunch money instead.
otherwise I try to keep all three of those topics properly tagged

Idk man one of my besties from uni has a dog who whines like shes upset when
shes happy. Like no doubt about it. Whining. Sad whale eyes. Sounds like she
wants it to stop. All the while shes wagging her tail and pawing at you for more
attention, more pets, more kisses, she just sounds like that when shes happy.

There was a video that circulated here for a hot minute of a nervous little
chihuahua whose certified dog trainer owner found out that he loved subway
trains and got all excited to ride on them and came out of his shell so she took
him to ride the train and let him run around the car and say hi to people (who
were clearly happy to see a little puppy run up to them for pets on their
commute in clear view and supervision of his owner) when he was a good boy. The
vile shit that people accused this woman of in the notes was unbelievable. You
wouldve thought she was beating the thing into its anxiety and forcing everybody
on the train to submit to a big poorly trained rottweiler guard dog, not taking
her nervous little chihuahua with the worlds biggest case of canine train autism
to his favourite activity that he was clearly trained well enough to not leave
her sight in and listened to her commands.

The dog i grew up with was a rescue pup. She had to be sedated to clip her nails
until the day she died because her first owner would whip her paws with a belt
to punish her and it traumatized her for life. She was a very well trained dog,
she just hated anybody touching her paws because of a bad experience. The best
training money could buy only got her comfortable enough to tentatively let her
immediate adoptive family wipe her paw pads after walks. She also licked the
walls because she liked the taste of drywall. Every generalized behavioral guide
will tell you that dogs only lick like that as distressed tics. She was not
distressed, her thought process was “drywall is yummy. I should put my tongue on
it.” That was it. She was not distressed, she thought the walls tasted good. And
if you think that we couldve stopped her, i want you to own a rescue
labrador-weimeraner mix with a clinical canine anxiety for a day and tell me how
well that would work out.

Like jesus h christ. You guys have got to stop with this shit.

I know that the school systems attitude of “youre only too sick for school if
you cant even get to the building and you should tough it out otherwise” had
lasting effects on everybody but in the adult world its generally understood
that theres a lot of things that can knock you out for the day that are still
considered being sick. You don’t have to be puking your guts out with a raging
fever and struggling to stand for them to take it seriously, especially if you
do more physical and public-facing work.

Obviously they won’t like, consider a case of the sniffles or a rough night’s
sleep enough for that, but “i am scared to be out of immediate range of a toilet
today because my lower digestive tract is committed to my assassination” is
definitely enough for a lot of employers to go “please shit yourself in your own
home instead of our workplace then.” Even if you otherwise feel fine. Even if
your old school acted like you were just whining and being difficult on purpose.

I feel like growing up you get inundated with this idea that it only really
“counts” as being sick if you have straight up influenza A symptoms, and then
you grow up and realize that really any group of symptoms that knock you out
enough to make doing your job more trouble than its worth is considered enough
regardless of what they actually are.

In my experience if youre calling in sick because youre actually too sick to
work you should just be completely, brutally, and utterly honest about it on the
phone. Because you may not think that theyll accept it as a good enough reason
and that youll have to lie and exaggerate like you do for bs call ins but trust
me when i say its probably not bs if its putting a grown adult out of commission
for the day

This goes doubly so if the reason you cant work is usually considered
“embarrassing.” Nothing compares to getting asked why you cant come in today,
saying “my IBS is flaring up so bad that i havent left my bathroom in an hour”
and hearing a brief pause followed by “
do you want to use one of your paid sick
days?”

Yeah, none of you are going to question that. What are you gonna do, make me
shit myself on the clock? Thats what i thought
