STAY IN THE KNOW. * Email Address* MONKSTOWN ROAD RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE As you are aware An Bord Pleanála (ABP) granted planning permission to Lulani Development Ltd. for the development at Dalguise, Monkstown Road, as outlined in our various circulars of May and June of 2020. Despite over 150 objections from anxious residents and other interested parties, many of which were very comprehensive, it appears that ABP granted approval in a rushed action and with inconsistent adherence to its own process. BREAKING POINT The roads around Monkstown have become increasingly clogged by traffic and there is frequent evidence of sewage overflows into the bay at the West Pier, Dun Laoghaire. If the Dalguise development goes ahead, it will add an estimated 1,000 more residents to our area, many with cars. It will choke our neighbourhood and overwhelm our already inadequate sewers. And that’s after the estimated three years of construction and the noise, dirt and chaos that it will bring. Adding to all of this will be the incongruous and excessively high tower blocks, which will dominate the skyline. Monkstown is at breaking point and, if this development goes ahead, our neighbourhood will be changed utterly. We are not opposed to the development of Monkstown and we recognise that further housing of all kinds is essential. However, considerable infrastructural planning is required to support any future development. JUDICIAL REVIEW We have formally established the Monkstown Road Residents Association, which is currently leading a Judicial Review of ABP’s decision, in an attempt to get that decision reversed. We are supported in this action by various other local residents’ associations and groups (Richmond Hill, Richmond Park, Brook Court, Belgrave Square, Montpelier Parade, Monkstown Valley & SOS Dublin Bay) all of whom will be detrimentally impacted by these development plans. The basis of our appeal is that ABP failed to follow its own procedures correctly, as well as various EU Environmental Protection directives, in reaching its decision; it failed to either fully interrogate the evidence or demand additional environmental impact studies by the applicants, and it failed to adequately examine the evidence submitted by all concerned residents. * Sitemap * Privacy Policy Tailored by iPLANiT × We use cookies on our website to give you the most relevant experience by remembering your preferences and repeat visits.
