National flags flew at half-staff across government sites Thursday as the nation
mourned the loss of the former premier, whose remains were cremated the same
day. In Hefei, Anhui province, where Li spent his youth, some citizens
spontaneously offered flowers in front of his former residential block. In Henan
province, where Li served for years, locals laid flowers at a memorial site to
pay their respects. Li died on Oct. 27 after suffering a heart attack at the age
of 68
