WELCOME TO THE STATE OF MAINE ONLINE VOTER REGISTRATION SERVICE

INFORMATION YOU'LL NEED TO REGISTER TO VOTE


If you have a current valid Maine driver's license or Maine State ID, you must
provide: **

 * Your Maine issued driver's license (DL) or State ID number
 * Your legal name as it appears on your Maine DL or State ID card

** If you do not have a Maine driver's license or Maine State ID, you must
provide:

 * The last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
 * An image of your handwritten signature (not a signature created with a
   computer font). See instructions on how to save a picture of your signature
   to upload with your application.


REGISTER AS A MAINE VOTER

Use this online service if you are a Maine resident and want to:

 * Register to vote for the first time in Maine
 * Provide updated information for your existing Maine voter registration
 * Change your party enrollment

REGISTER AS A MAINE UNIFORMED SERVICE OR OVERSEAS VOTER (UOCAVA)

Use this online service if you are a UOCAVA voter and want to:

 * Register to vote for the first time in Maine
 * Provide updated information for your existing Maine voter registration
 * Change your party enrollment

UOCAVA voters include:

 * Uniformed Service voters who are currently living away from their Maine
   residence
 * Overseas voters who are U.S. citizens currently living outside the United
   States and meet Maine residency requirements

HOW TO CREATE A PICTURE OF YOUR SIGNATURE TO UPLOAD

USE YOUR COMPUTER AND A SCANNER:

 * Write your signature in a normal size using black or blue ink on a blank,
   unlined, white piece of paper.
 * Scan the page and save the image on your computer as a .jpg file.
 * If necessary, crop the image using editing tools to eliminate most of the
   blank space around your signature. Make sure the image is clear and readable.
 * The size of the file must be no more than 5MB.

USE YOUR SMARTPHONE OR TABLET:

 * Write your signature in a normal size using black or blue ink on a blank,
   unlined, white piece of paper.
 * Use the camera on your smartphone or tablet to take a picture of your
   signature. Make sure the picture is well lighted, clear, and readable.
 * If necessary, crop the image using editing tools to eliminate most of the
   blank space around your signature.
 * Save the picture as a .jpg file. The size of the file must be no more than
   5MB.
