APPEAL OUTWITH JGBMCC AREA THAT IS WORTH NOTING Granted: 24/01804/FUL Conservation of Thomas Hamilton designed former Royal High School building to form new premises for the National Centre for Music including music rehearsal and performance spaces, licensed cafe /restaurant and bar facilities, offices, internal and external alterations, landscaping, public realm including provision of external multiuse space for temporary events/festival uses (Classes 1A, 3, Sui Generis and 11), access and associated works. at New Parliament House 5 - 7 Regent Road Edinburgh EH7 5BL Strike Action in Edinburgh: Waste and Cleansing Received from City of Edinburgh Council You may already be aware that members of Unite and GMB trades unions are planning strike action in Edinburgh from 5am on 14 August until 4.59am on 22 August. If the strike goes ahead, we are expecting this to cause significant disruption to bin collections, street cleansing services, recycling centres and public toilets during this time. We’ve created dedicated web pages with information and advice for residents, businesses and visitors about the strike, how it will affect people and how to manage waste safely and responsibly during this time. During the strike we are anticipating that * there will be no bin collections or street cleaning services * recycling centres will be closed * our flytipping and special uplift services will be suspended * public toilets will be closed. Trade waste collections will not be affected as this is not a service the Council provides for businesses. I’d appreciate it if you’re able to share this information with your stakeholders, customers and colleagues via your communications channels to help us raise awareness of the strike as widely as possible. Advice for businesses Please visit our website and our X feed (formerly Twitter) ahead of and during the strike. These will be updated regularly with the latest information. During the strike, please help us to minimise litter in the city by * making suitable arrangements so your business is ready for the impact of the strike * speak to your trade waste provider and adjust your collections accordingly to make sure you have enough capacity and collections scheduled during the strike * make sure bags/bins are not left out when your business is closed. They should only be put out during your trade waste collection window * if your business provides packaging that could become litter (eg takeaway food or drinks) please encourage your customers to bring their litter back to your premises to dispose of it or to take it home with them * provide reusable packaging for customers wherever possible * continue to provide bins, where possible on your premises, to collect any potential litter created from your business eg used drinks containers etc * downloading and displaying a printable poster on your premises to help raise awareness of the strike with your customers. Why is the strike happening? This is a national dispute over pay, with strike action planned across the country. Discussions are ongoing between COSLA, trades unions and the Scottish Government with a view to agreeing a pay deal and resolving the dispute. Edinburgh is the first local authority in Scotland where the action is taking place with strike action confirmed to go ahead in other council areas unless agreement is reached. 24/02789/CLP epair /maintenance of existing dormers including replacement windows, uPVC fascias and downpipe and replacement felt roof to match existing. at 10 Juniper Park Road Juniper Green EH14 5DX Granted: 24/01804/FUL Conservation of Thomas Hamilton designed former Royal High School building to form new premises for the National Centre for Music including music rehearsal and performance spaces, licensed cafe /restaurant and bar facilities, offices, internal and external alterations, landscaping, public realm including provision of external multiuse space for temporary events/festival uses (Classes 1A, 3, Sui Generis and 11), access and associated works. at New Parliament House 5 - 7 Regent Road Edinburgh EH7 5BL SWAP YOUR OLD ROYAL MAIL STAMPS Royal Mail is adding barcodes to all regular ‘everyday’ stamps. These are the stamps that feature the profile of the Queen on a plain coloured background. Any non-barcoded stamps will be valid until 31 January 2023, but not after that date. If you won’t be able to use all of your stamps by that date you can swap them for barcoded ones. Note: Special Stamps with pictures on and Christmas Stamps without a barcode will continue to be valid and don't need to be swapped. Using them up: You can carry on using any non-barcoded stamps you have until 31 January 2023. If you have too many stamps to use them up before this date you can exchange them for new barcoded ones through Royal Mail’s ‘Swap Out’ scheme. Swapping them out: Your non-barcoded stamps can be exchanged for the new barcoded version through the Stamp Swap Out scheme. To swap out your stamps, simply complete one of the Stamp Swap Out forms and send it to Royal Mail along with your non-barcoded stamps. The step by step process for doing this is explained below. How to get a ‘Stamp Swap Out’ form If you have a printer, you can swap out up to £200 worth of non-barcoded stamps by printing out and completing the Stamp Swap Out form on the Royal Mail website and send it free of charge, along with your stamps, by writing on the envelope Freepost SWAP OUT. No other address details or postcode are needed. If you have a printer, and more than £200 worth of stamps to swap out then use the Bulk Stamp Swap Out form. The address to send this to is: Royal Mail Swap Out Tallents House 21 South Gyle Crescent EDINBURGH EH12 9PB If you don’t have access to a printer you can request a Stamp Swap Out form to be posted to you by completing this form online https://www.royalmail.com/.../barcoded.../swap-out-request . The instructions for sending back will depend on the form you request. 'Stamp Swap Out' forms are also available from the Customer Service Point at your local Delivery Offices (but please note they will only have the forms for the up to £200 option). Or you can call the Customer Experience Team on 03457 740740.
