SHADOWS OF EVIL EASTER EGGS

By Hector Madrigal, Moses Altmann, Awakenedhero, +8.0k more

UnlockedupdatedDec 20, 2018

SHADOWS-OF-EVIL-MUSICAL-EASTER-EGG-MICROPHONE2.JPG

The microphone wire is located to the side of a staircase leading down to the
canals in the Canals District. It is the staircase near the beast logo, which
contains a hidden generator behind the wall.

The microphone is located through the Rift in the Subway Station. It is on the
ground to the left of a bench. This bench is set up the right set of stairs,
which is to the left of the Widow's Wine Perk-A-Cola machine.

With all the parts in hand, head to The Black Lace Burlesque in the Footlight
District. Walk on stage and interact with the microphone (Square on PlayStation,
X on Xbox) to play this musical Easter Egg.

HOW TO BUILD THE ROCKET SHIELD

A Rocket Shield is an optional weapon / piece of equipment that can be built in
Shadows of Evil. To build the rocket shield you must find three items scattered
throughout three districts: the Canal District, the Footlight District, and the
Waterfront District.

These items are always in these districts, but the exact location will change at
the start of each game. Purchase the door leading to each district, then become
a beast to power a generator revealing a staircase to the areas holding these
pieces.

After collecting all three parts, open the second gate in the Waterfront
District. A workbench is located in this area where you can assemble the parts
into a shield. Additionally, a workbench can be found in the Footlight District
High Street. Now you and all your teammates can pick this shield up and use it
in battle, and it won't even take up a weapon slot!

When the Rocket Shield is being used instead of a gun, press the fire button to
burst through a group of zombies to instantly kill them. Kill at least ten
zombies with a single burst to earn an achievement / trophy.

25G

Strike!
In Shadows of Evil, use the rocket shield attack to kill at least 10 zombies in
one burst.

HOW TO BUILD THE APOTHICON SERVANT

The Apothicon Servant is a special weapon in the Shadows of Evil Zombies map. It
creates a black hole that sucks in all nearby zombies, killing them instantly.
You will need to find and take three parts to a workbench. There's a workbench
at each of the three districts in this map.

One item is the Margwa Heart. This can be obtained after killing a Margwa, which
appears after completing a ritual or finding a ritual item. Kill the beast and
pick up the dropped heart to add it to your inventory.

One item is the Margwa Tentacle. This can be obtained from purple pods around
the map. Pods start out green, then turn red, then turn purple as long as you
don't harvest them. Harvesting a pod can only be done after picking up a
fumigator around Easy Street or Junction.

One item is the Xenomatter. This can be obtained after killing a Parasite
(flying creature) or a one of the rolling creatures that looks like the R.A.P.S.
scorestreak. This item will drop randomly and disappear after a few seconds, so
keep an eye out for a glowing green item on the floor.

With all three items in your inventory, take them to a workbench and craft them
into the Apothicon Servant. This weapon will take up one of your weapon spots
and disappear from the workbench immediately after. However, you will be able to
find it in the Mystery Box afterwords.

MAIN EASTER EGG

Unlike most Zombies maps from the past, the main Easter Egg is not tied to any
achievements or trophies. It must be done with at least four players. If you
have one to three players, the easter egg will stop after step four.

STEP ONE: ACTIVATE THE PACK-A-PUNCH

Loading
Play

The Pack-A-Punch Machine requires a number of steps before it can be accessed in
Shadows of Evil. To do this, you must collect five items around the map and use
them in five rituals. The items can be found in any order, and the rituals can
be done in any order, but the items must be used for rituals at specific spots.

THE ITEMS

All items require becoming the beast and interacting with a wooden crate or
generator in some way. Interact with the purple flames in stone basins to become
the beast. Once the item is accessible, return to human form and grab it with
your own two hands.

Summoning Key: Found on Easy Street in a wooden crate in the back of a truck.
You must become the beast to break open this crate to gain access to the
summoning key.

Golden Fountain Pen: Found in Junction in a wooden crate. To gain access to this
crate you must become the beast and zap a generator connected to a large crane.
This will drop and break open the crate containing the golden fountain pen.

Detective's Badge: Found in the Canal District. To get this item you must become
the beast, jump into the canal, find the wall with the beast logo (the same logo
at the lower-left side of the screen) and zap the generator box inside, then
follow the canals in the opposite direction to a wooden crate. Melee the crate
as the beast to break it open and gain access to the badge.

advertisement

Championship Belt: Found in the Waterfront District. To get this item you must
become the beast, grapple onto the eagle heads in the area just before the gate
to the next part of the Waterfront District, grapple to the next eagle head
nearby, and melee the hanging, glowing wooden box. Inside is the championship
belt.

Hairpiece: Found in the Footlight District. After opening the gate to this area,
look up the locked get on the right side while transformed into a beast to find
a glowing generator. Zap this generator to unlock the gate and open up a
staircase. Climb the staircase and jump across to a narrow ledge where the
wooden box containing the hairpiece is located. Melee the box to knock it down
and gain access to the hairpiece.

THE RITUALS

All rituals involve placing the items from above on a specific table around the
map and surviving an encounter with the ghost-like creatures. All you have to do
is run around in circles and avoid death. Survive long enough to turn the items
into gateworms. All four gateworms be carried at once when playing solo, but
playing with teammates only allows one player to carry one gateworm.

The ritual for the Golden Fountain Pen is done in a room above Easy Street on
Nero's Landing. To access the room, become the beast and grapple up to the fire
escape above Easy Street. Quickly follow the path around to a generator and zap
it to open up the staircase down to the spawn area. Return to human form and
follow this path back up to the room up stairs and place the item on the ritual
table.

The ritual for the Detective's Badge is done inside the Ruby Rabbit in the Canal
District. This is the red building to the right of the monorail station. To
access this building, become the beast and grapple up to the top floor. Quickly
run down the stairs to a generator and zap it to open up the staircase to this
area. Return to human form and ascend the stairs back to the ritual table inside
this building.

The ritual for the Championship Belt is done inside the Anvil in the Waterfront
District. This is the small boxing room down by the docks. To access this
building, become the beast and melee the doors open. Return to human form and
place the belt on the ritual table in the middle of the ring.

The ritual for the Hairpiece is done inside the Black Lace Burlesque in the
Footlight District. This is the big building with all the lights at the end of
the road. To access this building, become the beast and grapple up to the
rooftops. Zap the generator when you land to open the door. Return to human form
and place the hairpiece on the ritual table on the stage.

After completing the four rituals, you must take the gateworms through a rift to
the subway area. If you're unfamiliar with rifts, they are gateways beyond
sealed, blue steel doors at the Canal District, Footlight District, and
Waterfront District. These doors must be opened using the melee attack while
transformed into a beast. Revert to human form after opening one of these doors
and interact with the device inside one of these rooms. A rift will open that
leads to the subway.

While in the subway station, look for a wall with five glowing ruins. Touch
these ruins to open a whole new area up.

Place the gateworms in the four stone basins around this area (similar to the
flaming basins that turn you into a beast) to open up a portal. Wallrun along
the textured walls to reach the far side of this area. With all four gateworms
in place, set the summoning key on the table near the entrance.

Survive until the Shadowman comes by and the gateway turns blue. You can now
interact with the gateway to Pack-A-Punch your weapons!

STEP TWO: OBTAIN THE APOTHICON SWORD

The first step towards obtaining this weapon is finding three symbols hidden
throughout the map. The symbols can only be seen while riding the monorail from
one station to another. Before riding the monorail, check the map on the
monorail station platform for three question marks. The question marks will show
you which direction (left or right) you need to look while riding the monorail
from one station to the next.

advertisement

When you're ready, set the course from one district to another. The glyphs
you're looking for should be hidden within buildings. Look through windows to
find these red symbols.

After finding and memorizing all three symbols, head down to the Subway Station
through the Rift and become the beast. You should notice a number of red symbols
directly to the right of the purple flames that turn you into the beast. They'll
be along a brick wall in the shape of a door. Quickly zap the three symbols you
saw during the monorail ride to reveal a set of swords and eggs. Make sure you
tap the electricity button so you don't accidentally hit the wrong symbols. If
you hit a wrong symbol, you'll have to wait until you can become the beast again
during the next round.

Grab the Apothicon Egg from the swords and place it on the beast statues around
the map. These statues are hidden within big wooden crates which can only be
broken while transformed into the beast.

 * One statue is located in the Subway Station opposite the swords
 * One statue is located in the Canals District to the right of the Ruby Rabbit
   entrance
 * One statue is located in the Footlight District near the Perk-A-Cola machine
 * One statue is located in the Waterfront District near the entrance

Each statue can hold up to four eggs in case you're playing Co-Op. With the egg
in the statue, begin killing zombies near it to charge it up. Once it's fully
charged, remove it and take it to another statue. You must charge the egg at all
four statues around the map.

The final step is to bring the egg back to the swords in the Subway Station.
Place it back within the sword sheath to unlock the Apothicon Sword!

The Apothicon Sword is a special weapon. It will not take up a regular weapon
slot, but it can only be used for a short time. Keep an eye on the gauge in the
lower right corner to see how long you can use it. It can be swung like a
regular sword and send out electricity to stun nearby zombies and Margwas. This
sword only recharges after killing more zombies.

STEP THREE: OBTAIN THE REBORN SWORD

After obtaining the Apothicon Sword you can upgrade it to the Reborn Sword.

Go to the ritual altar that corresponds with your character. Interact with the
ghostly figure above the altar to receive another egg called the Arch Ovum. The
characters and their altar locations are listed below.

 * Nero Blackstone (magician) – Above Easy Street
 * Jack Vincent (officer) – Ruby Rabbit (Canals District)
 * Floyd Campbell (boxer) – The Anvil (Waterfront District)
 * Jessica Rose (woman) – The Black Burlesque (Footlight District)

Next, you must activate large blood seals around the map to charge the egg.
These are large, circular seals that are painted on floors around the map. When
you activate a seal, one (at first seal) or two Margwas (at second, third and
fourth seal) will come to fight. Defeat the Margwas before ending the ongoing
wave to complete the ritual. Per wave only one seal ritual can be done by each
player.

The seal locations are:

 * Outside the Ruby Rabbit in the Canals District
 * In Junction, near the Easy Street exit
 * Outside the Anvil in the Waterfront District
 * In the middle of the two streets in the Footlight District

With the egg charged, return to your ritual altar to give the apparition your
Apothicon Sword in exchange for the Reborn Sword.

STEP FOUR: TRAP THE SHADOWMAN

First you must go to Nero's Landing above Easy Street (altar of the magician).
Interact with the bookshelf on the left until a book pops out and levitates.

A flag should appear in the Subway Station. You will need to carry this flag
around the map and place it in set locations that appear to be sparking from the
ground. There are two sparking locations near each ritual location. With the
flag placed on the ground, the Shadowman and a number of creatures will come in
to fight. Survive while protecting the flag from the Shadowman until the flag
turns red and can be picked up again. Using the Civil Protector will help you
survive these waves.

After charging the flag twice, set it near one of the ritual altars to drain the
energy from the flag into the ghostly apparition, changing it into a gatekeeper.
This must be done for all four ritual altars.

advertisement

Next, head down to the Pack-A-Punch area to find all four gatekeepers above the
gateworms. Interact with them to bring out the Shadowman. They will take down
the Shadowman's shield, but the shield will automatically regenerate after. You
must take down the shield again by interacting with all four gatekeepers. Of
course, more zombies and Margwas will come in to fight during this time. You can
always make the zombies into crawlers to stop more from coming. Kill the Margwas
before focusing on the Shadowman.

With the shield down a second time, shoot the Shadowman as fast as possible. He
will teleport to the left and right sides of the area before going straight
forward towards the altar near the entrance/exit. Keep shooting until he appears
above the altar. When he's directly above the altar, place the Summoning Key on
the altar to trap him inside.

If playing with four players, a giant gateworm will spring up in the middle of
the map. If playing solo, the easter egg should end here and be incomplete.

STEP FIVE: RECHARGE THE FLAMING BASINS

After completing step four, the entire map will be filled with purple glyphs and
tough Margwas. If you touch the purple glyphs you will become damaged.
Additionally, your screen will turn red every thirty seconds. When this happens,
you must run to one of the green orbs floating around the map to prevent
yourself from going down.

You may notice the stone basins around the map will have red flames instead of
purple flames, preventing you from becoming the beast. To recharge a stone basin
you must kill at least one Margwa. Four stone basins must be recharged to allow
all four players to become the beast.

Beast mode will now be usable for an infinite period of time. However, if you
revert to human form, let the Margwas hit you too many times, or allow the
screen to turn red for long enough without touching a green orb, you will need
to kill another Margwa to recharge another stone basin.

STEP 6: KILL THE GATEWORM

The final step involves all four players and the monorail. Three players must be
positioned at each of the three monorail platforms in the three districts, but
one has to be in human form to interact with the monorail call button. The
fourth player must be near the giant gateworm and the three gatekeepers around
it.

The human player must interact with the monorail to send it to another station
platform. Once this is done, the other two players at the other two monorail
platforms must zap the monorail track. To do this, the players must zap a small
generator box at the top corner of the monorail platform. This will turn the
monorail track blue. The third player who was in human form must quickly become
the beast and zap the generator on his or her monorail station platform as well.
The monorail should smash into the gateworm and injure it for a few seconds.

Immediately after the monorail smashes into the gateworm, the fourth player must
zap the three gatekeepers around the giant gateworm. If all goes according to
plan, this should fully kill the gateworm and complete the Easter Egg. A short
cutscene will play at the conclusion. Players will receive a special "Dark Ops"
calling card upon completion.
