INVESTIGATIONS

The Board is responsible for investigating all complaints and disciplining
licensees under its jurisdiction who violate the rules and regulations
applicable to their profession. [Louisiana Revised Statues 37:1261 through
37:1292]. A list of the Practice Acts of Board licensees may be found here.

 

DISCIPLINARY HISTORY: If a licensee has ever been the subject of formal
disciplinary action by the Board, that information will be noted on the
Verifications page. In addition, the relevant documents such as Consent Orders
or Reinstatement Orders are viewable in full by searching for the licensee by
name on the Disciplinary Actions page and clicking on “additional documents.”

 

COMPLAINTS: If you would like to submit a complaint against one of our licensees
(see right hand panel) you must file a written complaint and sign a release
which authorizes us to provide a copy of your complaint to the licensee.  The
use of one of the forms below will help us respond appropriately to the
complaint.

DISCIPLINARY HISTORY: If a licensee has ever been the subject of disciplinary
action by the Board, the type of discipline and current status will be noted on
the verification page. Board Orders, Consent Decrees and Reprimands are public
records and may be obtained by selecting Disciplinary Actions on our website's
home page or here

 

REMEDIAL CME COURSES: Provided HERE are names and contact information of CME
courses that are recommended and approved by the LSBME Compliance department.
Only live courses that you personally attend are approved. Teleconference
courses are NOT approved by the Board.

The Board has authority over the following professions

 * Physicians (MD and D0)
 * Acupuncturists
 * Acupuncturist Assistants
 * Athletic Trainers
 * Clin Exercise Physiologists 
 * Clin Laboratory Personnel
 * Licensed Midwives
 * Medical Psychologists
 * Occupational Therapists 
 * Occupational Therapy Assistants 
 * Physician Assistants 
 * Podiatrists
 * Perfusionists
 * Polysomnograph Personnel
 * Radiological Technologists 
 * Respiratory Therapists

 

The Board has no authority over the following professional disciplines who are
regulated by separate licensing authorities:

 * Chiropractors
 * Certified Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA)
 * Dentists
 * Optometrists
 * Certified Nurse Midwives
 * Registered Nurses
 * Nurse Practitioners
 * Licensed Practical Nurses
 * Psychologists except for those licensed as medical psychologists

 

The Board does not regulate health plans or insurance companies (contact the
Department of Insurance)

 

The Board cannot share information or assist with lawsuits.
