WELCOME TO FOUNTAS & PINNELL CLASSROOM™

Congratulations on your purchase of Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™ (FPC). You are
about to embark on a journey into the world of joyful literacy education. This
journey is exciting, new, and filled with an abundance of new opportunities for

STEP 2: LOG INTO ONLINE RESOURCES


You have unpacked and now it’s time to log into your Online Resources. Online
Resources holds many useful materials that you’ll need to teach Fountas &
Pinnell Classroom™. Watch the videos below to log in and get acquainted.

How to Log Into Your Online Resources: Step-by-Step instructions for logging
into your Online Resources account.

An Online Resources Guide: A tour of Online Resources including how to navigate
the site, where to locate helpful videos and tutorials, highlights of the most
important resources for your context(s), and what not to miss.

STEP 3: GET TO KNOW YOUR MATERIALS


Now that you’ve unpacked and logged into your Online Resources account, it’s
time get familiar with your materials. In these videos you will learn about the
context you’ve purchased including an overview of all materials, how to navigate
the lessons, teaching suggestions, and other helpful tips. These videos are a
great place to start before you begin teaching, and to refer back to when you
have questions.

STEP 4: START PLANNING


Now that you’ve become acquainted with your materials, it’s time to start
planning. Refer to Preparing for FPC: An Interactive Action Plan and the Free
Implementation Support Course to begin preparing and to get acquainted with
Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™. The Interactive Action Plan is a great tool for
defining your vision and values, setting goals, getting to know FPC, and for
planning your literacy time. The Free Implementation Support Course is a more
in-depth tutorial where you will learn how to get started with each
instructional context and how to fit them all together.

After you’ve completed both the Interactive Action Plan and the Free
Implementation Support Course, it’s time to move onto teaching. Provided for you
are examples of what teaching Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™ might look like in
the first 8 weeks of the school year. Refer to the Instructional Plan for your
grade level to see what putting it all together might look like.

In partnership with Fountas and Pinnell, Heinemann is excited to deliver a new,
COMPLIMENTARY implementation support online course for Fountas & Pinnell
Classroom™ (FPC).

This implementation support course delivers video and interactive sessions that
focus on the eight instructional contexts of the FPC System: Interactive
Read-Aloud; Reading Minilessons; Writing Minilessons; Phonics, Spelling, and
Word Study; Guided Reading; Shared Reading; Book Clubs; and Independent Reading.

In this implementation support course, you will be guided in:

 * Building familiarity with the professional resources that support the
   implementation of FPC
 * Getting started with each instructional context
 * Fitting it all together - connecting contexts across the day, week, and year
