More About Sherry TESTIMONIALS Here are some of my client’s feedback about my book. I read the book Cora, with my 7 year old sister. Cora was challenging enough for her reading level. My sister said the book reminded her of herself because she too has been nervous to go to school and worried she may not have friends at school. Then when Cora saw her friend Niki, all the nerves and butterflies went away. I enjoyed this book because it showed kids that it's okay to be nervous but you still have to get up and try. You have support from family as well as friends. This children's book had beautiful illustrations and an adorable storyline. Cora can relate to many children because anxious about school or anything new happening in their lives. As long as they have support from their loved ones, everything will be okay. Thank you Mrs. Edwards for the book! Take care. A. Armstrong I recently met the author of this book at our local clubhouse. This book is about a little girl’s first day of 1st grade and all the anxiety experiencing “newness” This book reminds us that new things can be scary. The book brings out our need to be kind and concerned about our neighbor. Cora the little girl in the book ends up comforting her neighbor Nikki, and in doing so her fears were allayed. This book brings out it takes a village to raise our children, it includes Cora’s grandparents and her siblings. Cora goes to school is beautifully written and illustrated I am going to enjoy reading it to my grandsons 4yr old Zay and 1 yr old Eli. After reading this book to them I will enforce to them that I am part of their village and will always be there for them. K. GrinesRN, BSN, MPA I found the book to be educational, entertaining, colorful, and brief. This book is about the experience of one young first grader’s first day of school, Cora. Cora had trouble sleeping the night before her first day of school and feared leaving her mom and grandmother to get on the bus. Every first grader who has attended school experienced the same butterflies and anxiety that Cora experienced. The illustrations in the book are very colorful and add depth to the book. The colors are bright and draw your attention to the objects referred to on every page, bright yellow school bus, clear images of the inside of a classroom, and beautiful images of her family. Cora Goes to School is a book that holds your attention because chances are every one of us will have experienced the same thing on our first day of school. I rate this book a five out of five for any reader. Finally, the author thought of everything the reader needed to know about Cora in this book. M. Jones I certainly enjoyed reading Cora! It’s an awesome child’s book! Really enjoyed it! So interesting you would want to know the ending. Thanks for sharing! L. Brooks I absolutely loved Cora Goes to School! The book was so cute and it is great to help get kids excited for their first day of school! R. Wright This is a cute story about a rite of passage we all go through, and as adults, probably remember more vividly as our children start school. But when we think about it, we continue with “firsts” all of our lives that we meet with excitement and nervousness, as Cora felt when she got on that school bus—college, new job, home, marriage, parenthood. The last sentence of the book sums it up: “The world is always a better place when you have the love of family and a good friend.” That’s life, in a nutshell—and the perfect message to share with the little ones in our lives. I have some great nieces who are at the perfect age for this book, and I’ll see that they get it. H. Franchois Here is my review of "Cora Goes to School." Cora goes to school is a great book to begin the school year with your students, as it shows it is not uncommon for kids to be a little nervous to start learning in a new environment. This story demonstrates how the encouragement and support of family, friends, and teachers can reduce fear and creates a safe and fun place to learn and play. K.
